It all depends on how loud you want it. If you plan on doing L/T and an O/R midpipe, then magnapacks might be too loud. If you go with a catted midpipe then magnapacks will be just right.

I would suggest Packs, but they are loud as others have mentioned. I ran them for years on my old '01 GT and loved them. Just don't plan on having a lot of conversations.

I think I'm convinced on getting magnapacks instead of the flows. I don't plan on adding a mid pipe or header anytime soon ( I have a wedding to start saving up for ) probably be running just the axis backs for a years or so. Anyone know who much I should expect to pay for install?

I would def go with the Magnapacks, they sound totally awesome, especially with a good tune and a C&L Racer CAI, and yeah, do the install yourself, shouldn't take no more than 45 minutes

I was abit worried that the Magnapacks would be too loud, but after having them on my car now for about 4 months, I wish they were a little louder (I have the stock mid pipe on my car, I'm sure they would be loud as heck with an off road h or x-pipe tho)

Best of luck!!

It will get a little louder. A new o/r or midpipe with hi-flow cats will wake up the sound.

I leave @ 4.30 am every day, so the Magnapacks weren't in my future, but I wish my GTB's were a little louder all I can say is quiet - or at least "more refined" (@ least from the cockpit even w the top down)(all stock incl. the H-pipe). The stock GT's had a bit of a pop and a hollower sound, these are deeper and smoother, and don't pop @ all.....maybe due to the resonated tips? So, a catted X-pipe or the splice in one is going on the Xmas list - nice sound, but a lil disappointed in the lack of increase in volume - actually, kinda bummed.

I live in a condo complex and I leave around 4:30 to 5:30 A:M and I haven't had any complaints from running any of my exhaust set-ups and this includes magnapacks w/ a prochamber and hi-flow cats. Regarding the catted X, don't waste your money on the one that splices in. Spend the extra money and get one with hi-flow cats.

ok....i'll save up for it then (any brands you can recommend w/o breaking the bank)- btw, the spun metal cats are just meant for FI apps right? Yea, my garage points right @ the strata president's bedroom window - he's already mentioned that people have noticed my car leaving in the morning during a casual talk - and that was when I had the stockers on well.........

I had the metallic substrate cats are preferred over the ceramic substrates for F/I but either one can be used for N/A applications.

can I assume that the metallic cats flow better equaling more sound? and I guess equaling more dough? would the hiflow ceramics (Magnaflow) give more sound over the stockers? I've heard there's not that much difference in ceramic cats - stock vs "hiflow" in the restriction of air flow and sound? TIA

I am not sure the difference in sound between metallic substrate and ceramic but the metallic is supposed to flow better but not sure how much better. As far as sound, I believe both will sound nearly the same. Hi-flow cats both ceramic and metallic will be louder than the stock cats. Just to use a 1-10 scale for example, magnapacks w/stock catted H-6, magnapacks w/o/r prochamber 9, prochamber w/hi-flows 7.5

I think that's just about every exhaust, sound good from the outside but you would like to hear them from the inside. I do like the sound of GTBs.
