Making Engine Cooler

I really want my engine to run cooler, I have been thinking maybe an aftermarket fan or radiator may help. So I need suggestions on which brands are best, or what you think would help my engine run cooler.

try a 180 degree thermostat, they are only like 10 bucks and will make your engine run alot cooler

I started running 60% water 40% antifreeze along with a bottle of water wetter and she seems to run a tad cooler. The thermostat will help too.

What temperature is your engine running at now? Do you have an aftermarket water temp gauge that is giving you any specific temperature info or are you overheating?


When was the last time you changed the coolant/flushed the engine/radiator?

I've done a flush regularly. Haven't overheated. I just want it to run cooler. I guess I'll try the thermostat, anything else?

can you pick the 180* thermostat up at an autozone or over the counter auto parts store or is it only sold as a performance type deal online. i ask because the one for my Z28 i got at autozone.

You can get a thermostat at your local autoparts store. But before taking the plunge, consider the following:

Ford designed your car to run at the temperature it is running. Are you fully aware of all the associated risks involved in lowering the operating temperature? What makes you want to spend money on lowering the car's temperature, instead of making it faster?
