I screwed up. In my infinite need to be stupid, I picked up a set of Granada spindles that I scoped out at the Pick and Pull and was going to Ebay them. I have a set of Versialles spindles on the car with the Mustang Steve lower ball joint sleeve. Everything would have been fine, but I decided to make everything perfect by switching out the spindles and have a true Granada Set up. In my effort to get the sleeve off, I scratched the hell out of it and it won't come off. :nonono:

So, now I have a lower control arm that has a fixed ball joint and a scratched up sleeve. What the hell do I do? I don't want to buy a New lower control arm. Please help the stupid.

do u mean u "sliced" the sleeve? do u mind posting some pics. Whats wrong with just replacing the sleeve?

The sleeve is frozen to the ball joint and it has a few real deep scratches in it from the pliers. Man that sleeve is real soft metal. I am glad I decided to go to a spindle that does not need it. Anyone have any ideas? The LCA is in real good shape, so replacing it is not what I want to do.

die grinder with cut off wheel

Just be careful not to go all the way through the sleave. Then a fat chisel placed in the grove, will "crack" the remaining portion of the sleave with a few good "whacks".
shouldn't take more than 10 minutes this way.

If you don't have a die grinder, you can use a hack-saw to make the cut, just takes a little longer.

Good luck,

Scott

Ok, from stupid to a stroke of genious. I threaded two nuts onto the stud tightened them together, put a wrench on the nut and a vice grip on the sleeve. Twisted right off.

Whoooh. :D

Thanks all, again. You gotta admit it is a funny situation to be in. This is what I felt like doing-:bang:
