Mandatory black boxes in all your cars by next month.....

I've run into similiar scenarios before with our ASAP program at work. We have a program where by pilots voluntarily record data of incidences where regulations or procedures were not adhered to for whatever reason via an online reporting system. In exchange for this data, the pilots are given a small margin of legal license protection should enforcement action come. The FAA uses this data once it has been de identified to help build programs and procedures to help resolve re occuring problems. However, there is only way to keep this data safe from the talons of the lawyers that have taken over this country and left the average citizen prostrate. Data can legally be retained by a non profit organization, and not be subject to the sapina of a court. All our data is transmitted directly to a database operated by the University of Texas, which is of course a non profit organization. The only way for the auto manufacturers to truly keep this data safe would be to set up a similiar program.
