Okay I have a 1967 289 Couple with a C4 transmission and it has the ancient method of stopping (press and pray) with Drums all around. I want to upgrade to power disc brakes in the front. I see I have to buy a disc brake conversion kit and then a power master cylinder seperate. This kit runs for like $1200 but my thing is there is a seperate one for an automatic and a manual trans. What would I ever do if I want to put a 4 or a 5 speed in my car? Do the disc brake kits really matter on what tranny you have? Anyone else do a conversion like I'm looking to do and if so home much did you pay?

I never figured out what the difference was myself, hope to find the answer in this thread. An AT equiped car needs more vacuum than a MT one, at least if you are running a C4/C6/FMX. The used vacuum to modulate themselves.

Man go to your locak resto place and purchase the caliper monting brackets and then purchase all the parts from kragen. I purchased a SSBC force 10 kit about 8 years go. @ months ago a caliper gave loose. I called and some tech let it slip its just the Hipo disc brakes. I went to kragen and got everything but the mounting bracket. I figured I needed a set for emergency in the garage. total price was aboud 600 with new rotors. I payed 1000 bucks for mine.
