I don't have experience with doing an AODE to T-5 swap .... but here's a quote from the "how-to" article (that I will post also).
The stock AODE wiring harness was also kept, we connected the VSS and reverse sensors and Removed from the AODE the shifter position sensor, connected it, fastened it to the T5 and placed it in PARK so the car would start.
You can actually connect two wires to bypass the shifter position sensor, the vss is the same and you need to modify the reverse lights so it will plug on. heres a thread on it. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=641507
