I have seen in several posts that the Mark VIII electric fan is recommended and works great. So is there any particular year(s) that I should look for? I am still trying to find a new one (instead of one from a salvage yard with unknown history that could die at any moment). I also saw some posts that mentioned Houston Performance as a good source. They were not easy to find, but I finally tracked down their number. In fact I also found a site that listed the part number for the fan (F8LH8C607 AA). I figure if nothing else, using this part number I can go down to Checker and maybe find the replacement fan. So has anyone bought a new Mark VIII cooling fan or did everyone just get theirs from a salvage yard?
LOL.... Houston Performance is just down the street from me, 10 min away. They have sold a lot of them, but I got a used one from our local Pick a Part yard for $35. I plan to use it with a variable speed controller from www.dccontrol.com to limit the high starting current draw from using regular relays. It is one of my summer upgrades I have planned. Here is the info on the different model fans that I found:
