Masonnozz what color is your car? Vibrant red?

I always thought vibrant red was brighter and that vermillion was more of an maroon tint? Am I wrong? do you have the paid code for the paint you used?

I have a '92 and it's paint code is EP. It is Bright Red according to Ford. My car is the darker color red, not the Performance/Vermillion that came on the Cobra and some GT's.

Bright Red was the factory name

Vermillion seems to be what the aftermarket calls it

Vibrant Red is the same color, used on early SN95 cars and the 93 Cobra, but with a different code as far as I know.

Performance Red is different, it came on '99 35th anniv. cars and 00-01 models.

bright red was a weak factory name. thats what my 92 is as well. i always call it fire engine red, who knows why.

FWIW, whatever it's officially called, the code is from 1992 and is EP. That'll get you the right paint hue at the shop

Thanks Ill pick some paint up soon. Im in process of smoothing the engine bay and although the car is more of a maroon, Im going to get the engine bay in the good stuff and match the rest of the car later. Should I go with basecoat clearcoat or just a single stage? Oh and by the way Mansonozz sorry for butchering your name in the title. I was in a hurry and I didnt check what I typed.

No No No vibrant red, bright red, and vermillion red ARE NOT the same colors. Bright is your normal red which is a gloss lacquer look, hence bright. Vibrant is a vibrant color, almost orange. It is a special edition color which only came on a few gts and the cobra. Not too sure about vermillion.

Vibrant Red and Vermillion are as close as you're probably ever going to get to being the same thing. Reason being, that's what the aftermarket calls it I know multiple people who've painted/repainted their cars with code EP and it came marked "vermillion" from the shop when mixed.

My car looks plenty orangey when the sun hits it right:

And my friend's with the same color:

His has more orange tint to it, as you can see.

I agree.Vibrant Red or Performance Red are the same (Code ES was clearcoat;code EY otherwise).It is quite orangy.Bright red and Vermillion are the same (Code EP) and look quite different than the EY/ES.See paintscratch.com for 1993 to get an idea of how they look.I had the paint shop do up some samples of these and a couple of others before I decided though.
