I am converting my '88 5.0 lx 5 spd. to mass air because the engine is rebuilt with aftermarket and performance parts. I want to try to avoid buying a brand new conversion kit because they are too expensive for what it seems like you can get a kit for or the parts of a kit for on e-bay . I know you need the processor, harness, and mass air sensor which has to be calibrated to your injectors (mine are 24lb). Aside from that I don't know much else. Does the processor have to match the harness? Do I get any mass air processor to go with any mass air harness and then buy a separate sensor already calibrated? What is the best way to go here. I hope someone can help me out. Thanks

MASS air conversion instructions from http://www.stangnet.com/tech/maf/massairconversion.html FREE
A9L (5 Speed) computer from junkyard $100-$150
A9P (Auto or in a pinch, 5 Speed) computer from junkyard $100-$150
70MM MAF from 94-95 Mustang GT - $40-$70
MASS Air wiring harness kit $30-$85 - check out Ebay for this item.

The whole thing is probably less than $300 using junkyard parts.

A9L computers are 5 speed only
A9P computers are automatic , but will work with a 5 speed.

Use the MAF and injectors of you choice, just make sure the MAF is calibrated for the injectors.

The stock 19 lb injectors are good to 300-320 flywheel HP. I wouldn't use 24 lb injectors unless I had immediate plans for a hot heads/cam/intake combo.
