Mass Air Conversion - Half way through - what the heck??

Ok I'll start from the top. I searched this out but I couldn't find my answer...

I followed all the wiring steps as described by the tech article here at Stangnet by Mike Stowe to try to convert my 86 GT 5.0 to mass air. I have an innovative technologies 4 wire adaptor harness for the maf. I will be using a A9S cpu and a Pro-M 76mm bullet maf.

I ran the 4 wire harness through the firewall to the cpu connector. I wired in the red, black, brown and blue, as instructed, no problem - excellent install.

PROBLEM #1 :bang:
I then went to do the pump thermactor pump pin moves as outlined in step 4. I moved pin 51 to pin 38 on the connector as described even though my wire colors were different than in the article. I then went to move pin 11 to pin 32 but low and behold! ---There is already a wire going into 32 and the wire I was moving from 11 is pink and blue. Not thinking much of color I still don't know why that spot is occupied?? And yes I have the connector right side up....

Do I need to do these thermactor pin swaps, I don't have any smog on the car whartsoever.....?????

Then I went to complete the next two "optional steps" to prevent any problems later on. First I completed step #5 the fuel pump monitor signal without problem.

PROBLEM #2 :bang:
I then went to vehicle speed sensor wiring. My car does not have cruise and I was worried I would have the stalling out issue. I found the 8 wire harness behind the driver's kick plate. however I could not find the orange/yellow wire nor the dark green/white wire. The instructions I have that came with the adaptor state that if pin 3 + 6 already have terminals inserted in them then skip this step. Well in my connector pin 3 is empty but pin 6 is full.....So do I really need to do this step as well?

I then completed step 8 in regards to the map senssor.

I really need your guys help because as soon as I finish the wiring I can start building my engine.

Here are the ones that I followed went i did mine. There pretty much the same. But the VSS wiring is different between the two. Looks like your really going to have to wait untill you get the motor put in before you can tell wheater or not its going to work.:(

Red Wire: Must be spliced into pin 37 or 57 on the mass-air compuiter 60-pin connector.

Black Wire: Must be spliced into pin 40-60 on the mass-air computer 60-pin connector.

Brown Wire: Terminal must be inserted into lacation 9 on the mass-air computer 60-pin connector.

Blue Wire: Terminal must be inserted into location 50 on the mass-air computer 60-pin connector.

3 additional wires w/ terminals attached (for some vehicles):

Pre-1989 vehicles may need to have other wires connected to avoid poor vehicle performance and/or EEC error codes. If there are no terminals in the pin holes listed below, you will have to add these wires. Also, if your car does not have cruise control, you may have to add the speed sensor in the transmission. You'll need the speed sensor, and electrical connector, and new speedometer cable. This is available as an optional kit, or you can get it from your ford dealer.

Fuel Pump Monitor: Pin 19 is the fuel pump running monitor. It goes from pin 19 on the Mass-air computer connector to the PK/Bk wire (Splice into the wire - it's the fuel pump hot (+)wire) under the drivers seat. (this wire must be added)

Vehicle speed sensor wires: Pin 6 is the VSS ground wire. Splice this wire to the O/Y wire (-) on the vss at the back of the transmission. Pin 3 is the VSS hot wire. Splice this wire to the DG/W wire (+) on the VSS at the back of the transmission. If pin 3 & 6 already have terminals inserted in them, then skip this step.

Also, the following thermactor pump wires must also be moved on the mass-air computer connector:

Pin 51 must be moved to pin 38 in the mass-air computer connector

Pin 11 must be moved to pin 32 in the mass-air computer connector

P.S: I only did the four wires for the mass air flow. I bypassed the fuel pump relay under the seat. And i also didn't worry about the hermactor pump wires or the VSS. I don't have any probablems with my car running or anything.

aaahhhh.....that was what I wondering. I did the 4 wires and I was gonna do the fuel pump monitor. If you did just that and have no problems maybe I will too.

You're probably right I might have to wait till i get the motor in and see how it runs (if it does) but I wanted to everything right the first time so that when the car doesn't run I'll be able to eliminate things easier.

If you do bypass the fuel pump monitor the fuel pump will be on anytime the key is turn forward. Some people don't think that is safe to do because if your in a wreck the fuel pump will still be on if the key is on.
