I bought all of the parts individually, over the past 3 months.

I got the A9l off of craigslist for $95
I got the MAF From a local salvage yard off of a 94 Town car for $50
The Harness I got from Interactive Systems & Technologies Mass Air Home Page for $48 shipped
and the Adapter for the 94 mass from autozone for $17

It took me about 2 hours and the end result is a smoother idle, the gas can smell is about gone, no hesitation. and the endless bolt ons.

Now all I need to do is get the check engine light working.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend thus far

Copied from mustang88GT:

Adding a "Check Engine" light
Another difference between the speed density and MAF cars is that MAF cars have a "Check Engine" light in the dash to alert you to possible serious problems and it makes reading out self test codes much easier. The MAF cars have the "Check Engine" light located in the light panel on the lower right of the instrument cluster. Speed density cars don't have this window, but there is a "Check Engine" position for a light in the tachometer face, though there is no bulb installed. The wire from the EEC to the bulb (via the flex connector) is also missing.
In the '88 harness (not sure of other years), there is a tan and a black/blue wire connecting up to the 'Check Engine' circuit on the instrument cluster flex circuit. For MAF models, the tan wire hooks to the EEC STO/MIL line and the black/blue is for the lamp test out when you start the car. I don't know what these are connected to in an '88, but the test out feature does not work, and the STO/MIL line at the EEC-IV and self test connector is yellow/black. The wires connected to the check engine lamp probably end at some open connector somewhere, but I couldn't track it down, so I cut the tan and black/blue wires off the flex connector and ran a new wire to the STO/MIL wire on the self test connector under the hood (you could also tap in by the EEC-IV, but it was easier for me to go through the firewall. You can get a bulb socket from the HELP! rack at the local parts store, put in a N194 bulb, and voila, you now have a working check engine light.

did you put a new speedo cable and a vehicle speed sensor in when you did the swap. or did you already have cruise control?

If you hook up the check engine light, let me know. I've been trying to get mine hooked up using the existing harness.

I used the one on here under the usefull threads, and the one that came with my wiring harness. They were nealy identical, however the stangnet one has pictures, and well we all know that we never really read the instruction we just follow the pictures. LOL...

and strtrcr, I am going to try and get that completed this weekend, I will let you know how it works out.

And thanks Jrichker for the writeup.

i have the a9p,stock maf,new speedo cable, vss, stock pigtail with wires i added, the ecu pins, i was just wondering if anyone knows if i need the connector for the vss or did ford use the same harness for cars that didnt have cruise control. i hope so then the pigtail would already be waiting to be plugged into my new sensor.

when i bought my harness the guy asked if my car had cruise from the factory, cause if it didnt then i would have to buy the vss kit from them which included the pigtail, sensor and I think a new cable. its on their website under the mass conversion harness.

It is.. I paid $110 for an a9p and a 89 harness since I wanted ro replace the full harness, rather than wire in the individual mass air harness.
Did you get your CEL hooked up yet?

not yet just got finished mowing the yard, other than pulling the dash i figure it should be fairly easy, I would like to have it come from the computer rather than the harness under the hood but if thats all I can do then thats what I will do.

Worse comes to worse, I will jumper at the computer. I'm not going under the hood to do it.

The pigtail is already under the car. It's capped and clipped to the crossmember.

WHen i swapped my car to a T-5, i installed a VSS and VSS-speedo cable and then clipped the factory VSS plug into it.

I have mine ready to install except I have an A9L. Since my car is a converted AOD-toT5, i need to find an A9P computer.
