The pigtail is already under the car. It's capped and clipped to the crossmember.

WHen i swapped my car to a T-5, i installed a VSS and VSS-speedo cable and then clipped the factory VSS plug into it.

Really? The VSS wiring (even for a non-cruise control) car is already in place? My car is an '86 GT with NO cruise control and it didn't come with a VSS. I did my mass-air conversion a while ago and am now getting around to installing the VSS.

My '88 with no cruise control has the wiring in place

I went under the car, installed the VSS and speedo cable and found the wiring clipped and capped to the trans X-member

You got lucky! Have a feeling that since 1988 was the year that CA models came with MA, they may have started putting in the additional wiring even for cars without cruise. I highly doubt pre-88 SD cars have the wiring. I've worked on a lot of Mustangs 86, 87, and 88s and never saw the wiring as you're describing.

I just called IST and he said that it's very rare that the extra wiring is in a car with no cruise.

Then i got very lucky to find it already under the car. I haven't even converted my car to MA yet. I just installed the VSS anyway since i was swapping my car to a t-5
