So this morning I was on my way to class and was going down the road [4 lanes, 2 each way] and the mustang was already warmed up [15 minutes in the driveway idling and 10 on the road] so I decided I wanted to see how fast this thing can actually go. I started at the top of a hill that went down to a straight-away for about 3 miles. I had the thing floored and just listened to it roar. It felt great. Then I notice the speedo started to go to about the 3 on my OD which reads 131,xxx. The RPMs suddenly bounced back to about 3k and my car slowed down.. Did I hit the rev limiter or are our cars governed? I don't have a chip or anything... I know I didn't break anything, just had a confused look on my face like...WTF was that?

Anyone know?

i heard that if your car came from the factory with the 16" 'waffel' wheels it was speed limited to like 130 where it dumps tons of extra fuel into the cyls

dont know how true it is tho, never took mine past 120

I wish I knew how fast it was.. All I can say is that it was fun and I don't think I'll ever do it again... I still want to know how fast I was going.. The needle was at about 6 o'clock and I have 4.10's.. i'm guessing maybe i was going 130mph?

Did you correct your speedometer after the gears?

My car came with the waffles and after the gears, but before speedo correction I got it up to 145-150 indicated (110 or so actual) so that debunks the 130 mph rule.

After I did my gears, but before I did the speedo gear, I ran it up to about 4,600 in 5th gear. The speedo was all the way around and bending on the peg. Actual speed according to calculators = 140mph.
