so i took my car to a shop to get my headers installed.. supposed to be a good shop.. i had originally brought the car to a freinds shop and the project kept getting set back further and further.. so i resorted to taking the car to a shop i had taken it to 3 years ago to put my old spec clutch in

i had a little confidence in them since they were installing springs and headers on an 04 cobra.. so i figure sweet, they actually know stuff...WRONG.. took it there friday, went to pick it up monday and when they started it up you could hear a massive leak from the drivers side header... found where it was coming from, told them to fix it.. they said some back tomorrow...

cam back the next day, it was still there.. i got pissed.. they claimed it to be to thin of gaskets and that they would "set in" after drivin... so after an argument i left and took the car staight to my friends shop...

today he puts it on the lift and finds that not 1 part of the install was correct

1. drivers side tail pipe was mashed into the rear bumper cutout
2. mufflers were jammed into the frame of the car
3. headers to h pipe werent even installed correctly
4. passenger side headers were missing 3 bolts
5. drivers side header bolts and some of the passenger side bolts wer broke off...IN THE HEAD
6. 2 bolts had a nut welded in place where they broke the bolts so the headers wouldnt fall off
7. steering shaft was hacked up for some reason and re routed around header

i called the shop the second i found out and just laid into them.. then talked to the owner and he was like lets mak a deal.. i said f u, the only deal were making is your giving me my money back and paying for everything to be replaced.. INCLUDING NEW HEADS since im fudged cause the bolts are broke off in them

i was told that he'll give me back the money tomorrow when i go there but i know for sure he's probably lieing and his sketchy employees will be trying to jump my ass... BBB is being called tomorrow also that way they can pay for everything to be fixed...

im PISSED.. so mr crowbar and mr .357 will be visiting them with me tomorrow.. 357 will be on the hip just in case they try to act more retarded then they already are and the crowbar will be sitting in the car im taking down there just for fun...

this sucks.. im definatly a failure for letting them touch my car....sorry for the post but god effin damnit

You're asking for trouble. Quit being such a hot head and take them to court if you feel you've been wronged.

First off, did you take any pictures of their instal? If not, you've got nothing but heresay to back your claim. Keep a cool head and work "with" them to solve this. Blow your **** and you'll end up behind bars, or worse!

you have a good deal on the BBB, i am a pre law major at my school, and with the amount of **** ups they did, they cant ignore it....especially the extra damages caused....

if the bbb cant get it out, a lawyer can crank them to the floor, but, that'll take a longer process. and like i said man, if it comes down to screwing their ish up...wait a few months...then do it
i might be a nice guy, but i sure as hell wont play by the rules when nobody is watching. ....... its just part of being a "fox" in life .....catch my drift mang?

and you can still get charged with a deadly weapon with a crow bar...hell, they can get you on scissors if they really wanted to.

Im with this guy

Like they say on People's Court: "dont take the law into your own hands, take them to court".

Being a law abiding LTC holder myself, carrying your "piece" to resolve this dilemma is not the answer. Your piece is for recreation, and possible home defense. Dont wave it around like an idiot. Just make them fix it, and if they wont, have the court system do it for you.

Chill out a little and dont take any weapons when you go back to the shop. Take a bunch of pictures and show the owner what his guys did. If he refuses to take care of the situation take him to court and go through the BBB. If you are concerned about his shaddy imployees jumping you take a friend so there is a witness if things go wrong.

How about you post up the pics and the name of the shop so others in your area dont get screwed over too. If things do go bad just keep in mind that if you do things the legal way it may be your shop after everything is over and done with. Just insert your name infront of or in place of theres hahahaha.

The first rule of conflict resolution is to stay calm. If you go in there hot-headed they will probably respond in kind and end up in court. If you go in with pictures and a willingness to negotiate you may get it taken care of.

well i took your advice.. grabbed a friend and went to the shop.. the shop owner went and checked on the car and was completley outraged when he saw the hack job..he gave me my money back immediatly and were working on a solution as to the coverage on the repairs..more than likely ill be taking the "mechanics" check from him and he is getting fired as well.. i got some pics ill post up later when im home..couldnt really get any of the bolts due to them being so hard to see

At least it sounds like the owner is a stand-up guy. I hope he makes it right and then some for the hassle.

just wondering what the BBB will do. do they actually have regulatory power in other states? in CA they aren't worth a grain of salt.

glad to see this is being resolved. in CA a shop cannot make a tech pay for damage like that, techs are protected under some of our laws here.

Dont be silly with crowbars and crap. Youll have the cops there in 5 mins, and then if this ever does go to anything legal you wont have a leg to stand on.

Take pictures first, before you fix it! Get something in writing from your mechanic explaining his take on the work. Give the ****ty shop copies and tell them if they dont pay up you'll get a lawyer and also contact the BBB.

the BBB can't do anything but give a company a bad rating.

Find a pre-paid legal service. They are cheap (few bucks a month) and they might be able to help you for half the cost of a "per hour" lawyer.

Once a business gets something on paper from a lawyer they tend to play a little nicer. Alot of people say they are going to get a lawyer or sue, but few people actually go that far. You know what I mean?
