That sucks , but congrats on the baby , As far as prices I would look at the auto trader and see what that year cobra's are going for.

if its in excellent condition, id say about 9300.

Have you considered selling the wife instead? I mean c'mon man, prioritize here.

Or use protection so you can protect your true love THE CAR j/k

KEEP the car!! A 95 Cobra with 19K miles. An awesome car to have. I'll be having my third kid on May 17th (wife has scheduled c-section). I still have my Mustang. To accomodate the kids, my wife drives an '00 Windstar and I also have a daily driver Volvo 850. Fits kids well. When I go to work (i.e., alone with no kids) and it's a nice day, I take the Stang. Nothing like "breaking free."

I've been in your situation many times and often debated selling the car for financial reasons and pure practicality. However, in the end, I'm glad I have it. I bought it new and, now, plan to keep it.

Hard decision to make if it's paid for already.

I got my wife interested in performance stuff and muscle cars a short time ago, but it wasn't not easy and for the most part, I didn't know what would be the "thing" that would change her attitude. Don't get me wrong, she's always supported my car habit, but never really shared any of the same enthusiasm. That all changed when we both got the opportunity to drive Z06's on a road course. She got the chance to go WOT and take turns at a level well beyond her personal comfort limit (encouragement to do so came from seasoned race driver who was the passenger). Now she is interested in possibly taking sessions at the Panoz School. WOW!!!!

All that to say, sometimes there are several ways to look at a situation. Many times, it depends on your point of view......or your wife's. Marriage and a family's financial stability are, of course, more important than any car.

My wife now appreciates my car completely and even brags to others when they inquire about why I drive such a car. Many people think my car is expensive and too sporty looking (out of ingnorance, of course). She loves telling others that it is paid for and that I am working on making it a much better performance car. If anyone inquires any further, she rattles off the list of upgrades that are in the works: brakes, suspension, wheels/tire, and a new 350HP engine. She's even gone to the extent of setting up another bank account specifically for my "car fund."

I'm not trying to rub anything in, just letting you know that anything is possible. I've been trying for 5 or 6 years to win my wife over on modding my car and/or at least keeping it. Who knew that the answer was in a Z06 Corvette???

Oh yeah! In case you do have to sell it, you should pull in a pretty good amount with only 19K miles. How does a car only average about 2000 miles per year? I would think you'd be able to sell it easily. $9,000 to $11,000 would be respectable. Anything under $9,000 should get it sold quick and would be a great buy if it is in great shape.

Let's hope you get to keep it, though.

All locations are different...but here in AZ that car would go for at least $13,000 (assuming its in good condition). Right now all 94-95 stangs are going up in price for some reason (not in kelly bluebook, just what people are selling them for). Most Cobras with 80-100k on the clock are selling for $9k+... but hey, if people pay that much then oh well...

Car Nut...your wife sounds awesome. My old lady is making me keep my Stang, even though it isn't running and we are scheduled to have a kid May 13th! She just knows how much I will regret it if I lose it. I think it would be awesome to be able to keep your car, but in the end family and finances are much more important than an automobile!

Its your car, keep it.

Buy a cheap minivan and keep her happy if worst comes to worst.

Dont sell such a nice car with such low mileage just to make someone else happy... you have to make yourself happy too.

Now imagine when your kid grows up and you tell him how you had a bad-ass COBRA back in the day, he would probably kick you in the nads for selling it.
