The Real Daily Driver First Place Winner

My 91 LX was a superior car in 79-93 Driver class but did not get first place. Looks like it only has 30000 miles even though 130000 has passed under the tires. Exceptional original paint, no sun deterioration on the black outside trim, undercarrige super clean, no sun fade on the interior absolutely the clear winner but did not get first place. People with with the old classics parked around me could not believe it did not get a first place plaque.

Its picture is next to a white 99GT convertible special edition with a black top.

The moral of the story, even at national events, local politics can get involved. Go to shows and enjoy the fellowship and take what it gives you.

I just happened to be taking a break when the judges came up to look over my 84. They were both MCA judges. Local politics did not apply. I am not privy as to why mine graded better than yours. Perhaps it is because it has twice the mileage, 7 more years, and is a 4-eye. Perhaps it is because of the subtle modifications to the stance and appearance truly showing the hard work that has gone into this car even though it is driven every day.

As I understand it, you can get your results from the MCA. Perhaps you can look over what areas the grades for your car were low and look at improvements. Then bring it back next year and we'll have another go.

No need to be bitter. I've had the same happen with my 88 LX coupe before it met Mr. Tree.

Back in the late 80's i had a 68 Mustang Fastback that i took to Pensacola several times and made changes and after three trys got 1 place in occasional driver in 1991 my last show. I sold this car in 1993 and have not been to an event since then until this year's Pensacola show. I was parked next to your buddy in the Huntsville club with the red 93 Cobra. I do not remember his name but he will tell your how fine my 91 is.

My worse car mistake was selling the 68.

Back in the late 80's as i recall the awards were one first place, one second place and so on. That was anywhere you went. In Huntsville they gave more first place trophies and Gold trophies than Carter has liver pills. Some classes i think everybody got a first place trophy. Maybe since i have not been to one of these shows in over 10 years the judging has changed. So yes, after almost 15 years of keeping this car immaculate i was stunned at the results and have lost alot of respect for the way the cars were judged. Does it really mean anything anymore? Well, all i need is a battery and re-install the original radio an i will go un-restored next year if i do this anymore.

Like and old man who has several hotrods here at work told me. Do not go to a car show expecting to win because most judges are not qualified for what they are looking for espically in street and occasional driver classes. Just enjoy the crowd and cars.

I don't have a buddy that has a red 93 Cobra and there are at least two in the RCMC club that have them. Mike did not show his and I know where Gary's was parked. Beside him is no 91. See URL below.

Care to pick yours out of the pictures on the webpage that I posted earlier above and list why you think yours should have faired better than mine?
