Me thinks my fuel pump is going out!

42 is just fine. That's actually the asssumed WOT FP inside the EEC as I recall.

Your idle pressure is a little low and your spread is a little high compared to what I often see.

Since this is intermittant, I'd let it run for a bit and see if your idle pressure starts to drop. Anything below 30 PSI is cause for concern.

The idle pressure is a little low, eh? I'll check it now and again to see if it drops any lower. Does the weather/temperature outside effect fuel pressure?

If it does drop any lower, would fuel pump be the culprit? Or should i still check a few other things first?

Thanks, Hissin!

You have a lot of codes associated with your o2 sensors. When was the last time you changed them? I have had a lose wire on my o2s cause the car not to run before.

30 is the min spec but 32-33 is normal, with a WOT of about 6 PSI higher than idle being what I've seen.

As long as you dont dip below 30, you should be ok. Things like idle setting (if alternator output drops, voltage to the pump and flow both drop), a partially clogged fuel filter, etc etc can all play into it.

Ambient temps dont have a meaningful significance.

If you find your pressure drops below 30 at idle, using fuel line crimpers to pinch the return line (to see if pressure goes up. Like Icemetalstang said) is a next test. You can get the crimpers at the parts stores.

Alrighty then,

Thanks a lot, everybody!

Well guys, Its been a week now and the car hasn't died. It did, however, almost die while I was trying to dart across a traffic thriving intersection (scared me *****less, lol). The car hadn't quite warmed up yet but it wasn't a cold day or anything.

So I checked fuel pressure again, let the car run for about 10 minutes, and it never dipped below 32 psi... my car has a myriad of mystery issues i suppose. Even with fuel pressure at good levels, you guys think the fuel pump could still be needing replacement, causing the "almost dying" scenario.

I just found out by the previous owner that he replaced it about 5 years ago. Idk...

I just want a new mustang :(
