Me thinks my fuel pump is going out!

As long as you dont dip below 30, you should be ok. Things like idle setting (if alternator output drops, voltage to the pump and flow both drop), a partially clogged fuel filter, etc etc can all play into it.

Ambient temps dont have a meaningful significance.

If you find your pressure drops below 30 at idle, using fuel line crimpers to pinch the return line (to see if pressure goes up. Like Icemetalstang said) is a next test. You can get the crimpers at the parts stores.

Well guys, Its been a week now and the car hasn't died. It did, however, almost die while I was trying to dart across a traffic thriving intersection (scared me *****less, lol). The car hadn't quite warmed up yet but it wasn't a cold day or anything.

So I checked fuel pressure again, let the car run for about 10 minutes, and it never dipped below 32 psi... my car has a myriad of mystery issues i suppose. Even with fuel pressure at good levels, you guys think the fuel pump could still be needing replacement, causing the "almost dying" scenario.

I just found out by the previous owner that he replaced it about 5 years ago. Idk...


I just want a new mustang

Also, if my fuel pressure gauge that i have hooked up can take up to 100psi, would there be any danger in driving around with it still attached to the schrader valve?
