I have the one piece aluminium drive shaft and wanted to measure pinion angle. Only change to suspension has been the rear roush springs. Let me know if I'm doing this correctly.

Firs two pics taken from driveshaft.

I may be wrong, but, I'm pretty sure that your differential pinion and transmission shaft should be in the same parallel plane. If they aren't, you could adjust the tailshaft with shims or rear axle links (provided they have adjustment capability).

Parallel plane? Didi I say that right? Heck, just imagine that the shafts are both guns that shoot a bullet for an infinite distance with no drop, the bullets would never cross paths.

Driveline angles

Please mention why you are doing this as pinion angles have not been a known problem on this car.
This is how you do it:
1-Add weight to get the car at design height.
2-Measure pinion flange face.
3-Measure trans output shaft
Compare to factory specs.
The driveshaft is not normally measured.
I used to work onm driveline issues on the Mustang- we did have angle problems on the old Miustang but not on the present one. Good luck

Denny has it right, if I rememember 4 degree's nose down is prefered for more traction.

Finnaly sombody gets it !! Car should be checked after lowering as it will be way out of spec and vibrate at high speeds

You have the driveshaft in backwards, the slip joint belongs in the front.

I'm not sure how to take that comment. If your meaning is that my 24 years of being a ford trans specialist as being wise then your right.

He has a shortened ranger driveshaft and I've been removing and installing those since that style came out and he has it in wrong.

You beeing a Mod should not make comments like that unless you have all the facts.

BTW 4 degrees is a bit much 2-3 for performance 1 degree for smoothest operation.

So, your saying that a Mustang Performance shop installed the driveshaft in the wrong direction?

What overall negative affects will this have? I plan on taking it back to have them install correctly, just not sure of what damage might be already done?

Not sure really. Never ever played with a S197 driveline before..........

The expert said his piece and left.

You are dealing with a NON stock part so do anybody really know ???

Don't see how it will hurt the car, take it back and ask the shop WHY was it installed that way.

Let us know what you find......
