Ok i have an 85 GT i put in a carter high performance mech pump rated at 6 psi and 120 gph....its only like 3 months old i think its going bad how would i know if it was? The reason im asking i just installed an Air Fuel gauge and at idle its running rich but i knew it would it is an edelbrock 650 thunder series...For the last couple days the car has been stumbling under a load...and today with the A/F gauge when i was steping on it the stumble was there slighty and the gauge went off the the chart to way lean,if i drive it normal and dont give it alot of gas it will read ok...reads rich but i know it would...lol Im wondering if i should go with an electric fuel pump and regulate it to 5.5 psi do you think my block pump is going bad? is there a way to tell? Thanks...Oh yeah if i put an electric pump on where is the common place people mount it...also i would like to run new fuel line also...being that mine is 23 yrs old....what pumps do you guys use?

You will need to add a relay & switch for an external low pressure electric fuel pump. Do not try to wire the fuel pump without the relay. The 15-20 amps the pump pulls will overload the circuit. This will take power away from other items on the same circuit or cause the fuse or fuse link to blow.
