Mechanical Advance Going on Stock Distributor?

I just switched out a Mallory Unilite distributor (borrowed) with my stock '66 Autolite distributor. Before installing the old Autolite I upgraded/replaced the points with a Pertronix II ignition set up and also installed a Flamethrower coil. Reading the Pertronix instructions and many Stangnet threads, I bypassed the resistor wire under the dash and tapped into the 12v ignition source.

The car runs great at idle and at slow speeds, but has lost a lot of power at higher rpms (all gears) with just the distributor change. There were no other changes to car.

Initial timing set at 10 degrees.

I think I might have lost my mechanical advance on my stock distributor. To check this: I should look for 34-36 total timing at 2500-3000 rpms?
