Mechanical fuel pressure gauge pegged out

I have am autometer mechanical FPG and Its been pegged out since I bought the car about 6 months ago. I had the fuel lines unhooked when I was installing the heads on the car last month and it didn't change anything. Is there a way to check the gauge? Or is there anything else to check?

Was it pegged when it was disconnected from the fuel line? If so, it's most likely FUBAR...

It has been pegged out since I have bought the car.

I'd say it's no good. You could try to open it up and see if there's simply something holding the needle up high or if it's been over-driven.

Liquid filled gauges are for direct mounting on the engine. The liquid helps dampen out the effects of vibration on the pointer.
