Greetings guys-

I just ordered an automter mechanical fuel pressure guage. Im looking to install it in the cowl area on the outside of the car. Whats the story with the isolator-is it needed? besides the gauge, mounting cup and stainless steel braided lines, what am i going to need?

How long will the needed SS braided line be? what type of fittings will i need? Remember-Im going fro the Shareder valve to the cowl, mor etorwards the drivers side wiper arm...

Thanks in advance to all who reply!
Anthony

The isolator is only needed if the mechanical gauge is mounted inside the car, besides the adapter for the shrader valve it sounds like you have it all figured out, I have a 4' braided line on mine for routing purposes, you could probably get awau with 3' if need be.

I'm doing the same exact thing as you. I went with a 6' just so I could mount it around some other stuff, the only thing other you will need is a 1/16npt to 4an fitting if you are using the schrader valve as the connection point or I believe it comes with the fittings for a fuel pressure regulator hookup.

What kind of pod are you using btw? I'm still trying to figure out if I want to use a Cowl Gauge Concept brand one or something else

hey man-

im mounting under the cowl. i cut the cowl and have th gauge protruding slightly, Its a cool set up. many guys have it here, Nothing fancy. its a phantom autometer 2 5/8. I already have a fuel rail mounted FP gauge 1 1/2 off the shrader valcve, But always wanted it in the cowl. Only thing is my fittings are 1/16 to 1/4 NPT. Why are yours -AN fittings? What are they fittings on the SS hose?

hit me back, Thanks Ant

Fuel pressure gauge adapter fittings:
http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=17945NOS AN 4 to 1/16” pipe
http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=16785NOS 1/16” male pipe to 1/8” female pipe

Or
See http://www.autometer.com/cat_accessorieslist.aspx?pid=10

You can buy the Autometer Stainless Steel braided hose for like $60. Or a local shop that makes hydraulic hose assemblies can make it for you at a cheaper price. Ordinary low pressure hydraulic hose can be used in place of the Stainless Steel braided hose, the Stainless Steel braided hose just looks nice. I got mine for $4 at a place that sells industrial and military surplus parts of all kinds. The Stainless Steel braided hose goes for about $3.60 a foot and the fittings are probably about $5-$8 each. You can make your own and save some $$$, the shops may have a setup or labor charge to fabricate the hose assembly.

Question regarding -AN fittings, Do you need to use teflon tape on those or not, Is it like NPT's?

Thanks one last time- ant

The AN flare fittings are assembled without anything but a little bit of oil on the flare part and threads. The pipe threaded part of the AN fitting gets the teflon tape.
