Mechanical oil pressure question

hey guys I have a quick qestion, when switching to a mechanical oil pressure gauge does the stock oil sending unit still need to stay?
If it must i simply can make up an "T" and have both still right? I just bought the gauge and want fulltime accurate numbers of whats the pressure and really wanna get this up so I can drive it for the first time since last year.

That's whaty I did. I put a T on and put the factory sender there.

I didn't want a dead gauge in my cluster?

yeah a T would help to not have a dead gauge but it doesn't have to be there.
