Hey all.. I've done a quick search and turned up nothing. Maybe i didn't do it right but just as the subject line says. I'm looking for a good mechanic in Southern Cali. I've got a whine everytime i put load on the engine. (whenever i give it gas or cruise on the highway) and it gets louder the faster i go. I bought this car from a used car dealer and didn't know there was gears installed, but apprarently there are. My speedo is off and the gap between the correct speed and the speed on the Speedo grows incrementally the faster i go. I still have yet to find out or figure out what type of gears i have in there and who made them. I did a search and found out that when the gears are installed incorrectly they tend to have a whine. I'm looking for someone to fix that problem with me since i have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to doing gears. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Eric

It's gear whine....

Depending on how big the difference is, you could have 3.73's, 4.10's or even steeper. What's your speed at 3k RPM's? If it is always there, I would be concerned that they were not installed properly. You should only have whine at certain speeds and not all the time. I have it between 55 and 65, then it goes away.
