Other Fox body Mustangs sold there....

1984 GT hatch ?? miles $7,700
1986 GT vert 37k miles $14,850
1986 GT vert 63k miles $11,000
1989 LX vert 33k miles $13,750
1990 GT hatch 31k miles $18,700
1990 GT vert 85k miles $15,070

Note: Mileages are odometer readings.....it's possible it may have rolled over.

Also, don't know if those prices include the 10-12% buyers premium or not. Guessing those are hammer prices..... so probably not included.

I am honestly considering a '95 Cobra R. Seems like they're going in the 40k range. At only 250 made, how can they drop in value?

There's one for sale here locally in DFW that I already went and checked out for another member, let me know if you're serious about it and I'll be happy to tell you all about it, he's asking $40k.

Edit... nevermind, I'm an idiot, it's a S351 not a Cobra R.

In my opinion, the s351 is a much cooler car. Definitely link me or send it to me via pm.

I saw some on TV. Ridiculous and skeptical. One of the cars had 7 original miles, so don't expect prices like that unless your car is in mint condition from the factory. I'm starting to think there's an agenda for some of the cars that sell on Mecum. Some people want 10 seconds of TV time, or they have buddies that buy the car. I'm sure there's some insider trading going on with some of the models where people sell certain cars to friends just to be able to show the car and it goes around in a circle. I've seen a lot of the same cars pop up over and over. I do like watching the shows but sometimes it's definitely fake for tv. A mysterious online buyer pays a ridiciulus amount for a car. It's a lot more fun when they show good deals with real HP going cheap. For me there is nothing exciting about a stock 1990+ car that has less than 10 miles on it. Some of the older cars have big HP and torque and still get slapped by newer cars with 1/2 the horsepower. A bunch of old farts holding on to the past I guess. Whatever floats your boat.

Nothing wrong with old, but trying to jack up prices on cars that are meant to be affordable for people isn't doing anyone any good. There are people who don't have a lot of money who want to buy older mustangs or muscle cars because they want a reliable engine and that's all they can afford. Artifically inflating the prices of fox bodies or older cars is not the direction we want to go. These cars are meant to be for the people, not for the rich.

Artificially? It's a decentralized market and there were a million made. Not sure how hegemonic powers are pushing up prices that the average joes are listing their cars for on facebook.

I just bought Black Jack <- linked for $3,800. So, deals are still definitely out there.

If someone doesn't have a lot of money they may want a mustang or muscle car but they can't buy one unless it's clapped out or hacked half to death and it will not be reliable.
And they sure will not be at a Mecum auction buying one.

There are people who want to buy a 2022 GT500 and and can't afford one. How dare those rich people buy them so that the poor people can't afford one.
OMFG
The mental gymnastics that people will go through to justify a want or need.
My advise...
Work Harder.
Be responsible with your money.
Or, better yet, make your expectations more realistic.

I'd break it down for you guys but I know you understand me and are just pulling my leg. After all, Henry Ford invented the assembly line to make cars affordable for everyone. I'm not saying everyone should have a Ferrari. And you're right I don't have realistic expectations and have been foolish. Thanks.

At the time they were built, they were affordable for all. That’s why there’s so many out there, and why there’s so many of us still on these forums talking about them.
But nostalgia drives prices. Regardless of what they were originally meant to be, the diamonds in the rough will always go for big dollars once enough time passes, cause guys with deep pockets will pay it just so they can have it……. And that’s perfectly fine with me!
I’d rather see those guys keeping them alive then them rotting away somewhere!
