Melbourne area stangs

I've got Flowmasters and an X pipe with shorty headers....I like the sound for the most part...but the headers make this TERRIBLE droning...it's so loud... The system does sound a little raspy, but at a normal idle it sounds nice and tin-can burbly....fast/cold idle, it's loud as hell. Gives a nice vibration in the cabin at low rpms..say between 1000 and 2000..but 3000 and the noise cancels out completely. It's as quiet as my dad's stock Cavalier on the highway. I kid not.

Hmmm, wanna extend that invitation to either one of my 5.0's? :D

What sort of times does that thing run with the Vortech?
My best was a 13.5 at 107 on bald goodyears. Then it got worse with the 3.73 gears and falkens.I have no traction whats so ever not to mention that speed world sux @$$ anyways.Get me some drag radials and I know the car can hit some where in the high 12s.The dyno showed it was putting 310hp and 324lbs at the wheels. The dyno tune is comeing soon now.

I was thinking of going with one Flowmaster and then one Magnapack. I wonder how that would sound.

Back in the day when cherry bombs were the muffler of choice (Sherman, set the Wayback Machine...), we'd put two on of different lengths. For example, we'd have a 16" on one side and a 14" on the other.

It sounded like the motor was about to explode at any time as the harmonics created by the two different lengths would make your ears bleed. If you matched the two mufflers right, you could actually make the car louder than running open headers.

It was a cool trick when all I cared about was loudness, but it really didn't sound good at all.

Hehe,Lets line them up then and see what happens.

:nice: Anytime... well anytime after I actually start modding the motor anyways. :D Hmmm, I wonder if weight and traction alone could get to the low 13's...

I'll be ordering all the rest of the parts for the suspension when I get back except for the brakes. Once it's done, I'll be doing the paint and body. Then the new block, stroker kit, and power adder will be ordered.

i ll stand up for us pushrod guys

Hehe,Lets line them up then and see what happens

josh give me a month then well see whats up i worked on the coupe till 4.30 this morning taking a little break an going back at it i am going to start with the 15 psi pulley the arp stud kit is very nice the wheels look sharp on the car just need 2 rear center caps gonna wait on the 75 shot though {sorry dave } might put it on the blue car not!!!!!! any bodie want to buy my 4 lug billet wheels heres pick of them

Some crack-head who decapitated about 2 dozen Barbie dolls put the heads in a Coca-Cola case from the 60's, put glass over the top, then put legs on it so it could be used as a night stand or something walked away with the best of show. :nonono: She won a $1500 scholarship to wherever she wanted to go, even tho she already has things taken care of to go to UF.
That thing wasn't even art.. bunch of junk glued together and then had some 4 year old smear neon paints all over it. :barf:

Oh, and what's Jake want to weld on some SFC's?

I haven't seen your car yet..we'll have to meet up at one of the mmorl meetings or at the track sometime so I can drool on it! :worship: :nice:

It put down 434rwhp and 408rwtq, it equals to a little over 500+hp at the flywheel, its plenty for right now, I didn't want to stress the factory block. If something broke I don't have the money right now to go out and buy a dart built shortblock, I'm saving up for a new Yamaha R1 so there won't be anymore spending on the stangs for at least a year.

Jay charged me $120 to weld on my SFCs and to weld up the smog pump air pipe on the H-pipe.

I plan on being down at the one year anniv. of MMORL at hooters this friday. The power of this thing is really addictive and it is loud as hell, I then get into my hatchback and it feels like a damn Aspire compared to my vert.

My car goes in Wednsday for the s-trim install. Happen to see the Red 03 Cobra with FR500s out there today? That car is :nice:

Sounds good man, you will love the added power. Make sure the fuel system is up to it and have them dyno tune it.

That red 03 Cobra is actually Jay's car, he sold silver notchback and bought the 03. He also got one hell of a deal compared to what black's was showing on their website. Beautiful looking car and I actually really like those wheels, fits the car well with no spoiler on the back.

damm guys....

what's wrong with o/r X with Flows, I think it sounds kickass. That great raspy nascar v8 sound. My X is Spin-tech so it might sound different, but i didnt here any complaints in FEB when i came down.

When's CFR going to have another 2 day AutoX??

My friends hatchback was up there today, the blue one with 10 holes having the tranny rebuilt. We dropped it off thursday and it was done 2 days later. I couldn't believe the 03's that were there. Thursday there were 4 of them up front. I like the wheels on Jays too. They were just putting a silver convertable 03 on the dyno when we were leaving and it put like 460 to the ground which isn't too shabby at all. :nice:

dg... Are you serious dude? Lol...that mph is dead on for low 16's. My v6 Camaro, before I sold it, ran 16.48 at 84 mph. Of course you could just be making it up out of sarcasm..who knows.. But....yeah, I feel your pain man! I too had a slow ride once. 17.1-ish when I got it. Made me good to know I chopped over half a second off by the time I sold it on only minor mods...

You don't want any slotted or drilled brake rotors. They do nothing to help you stop better and will warp just as fast if not faster. Forget all the stuff about releasing gasses from pads and more surface area for cooling. For your car, they're just for looks. The Fox rotors are always going to warp because of the integrated hub design. Quality parts store rotors are the best potion. Just torque your lugs evenly and don't point a garden hose at your hot rotors and they'll last plenty of years. If it happens again, your only real option is going to 5-lug. Those rotors and hubs are a better design and will last longer.

On edit -- looks like you want shorter stopping distances. Better pads will help. I use AutoZone Performance Friction for $30. Some people like the Z-rated ones for $50 but I didn't feel the need. Put some fresh brake fluid in there. There's not much else that's worth spending money on for 4-lug to stop better. I'd save your money for a 5-lug conversion.

Well, I took your advice and got some Bendix (not drilled or slotted) replacement rotors from Discount. They were $62.50 a piece, so I was happy. I haven't really stomped on them yet, so I don't know if there's any improvement, but we will find out.

For pads, I got some "Wearever Gold's". Weren't the top of the line pads, but they were free (due to previous pad's unlimited warranty), so they'll have to do. And of course, changed the fluid. I will eventually do a 5-lug conversion, but I dont have that kinda money now, and I sure don't have the money for new rims. :jester: Thanks for the advice!:nice:
