Melbourne area stangs

Man, it's really slow tonight. It seems that when you add a fourth person, rigorously posting along with 3 others, it alters the entire dynamics of the posting. Like last night, 4 people, 12 pages. Tonight, with 3 people, it's way slower, and so far have added only about 2 pages.

Well then, it looks like we need a toss around a good topic to keep the discussion lively.

Oh boy, I see where this is going. Well, age was picked on. My "inner-ricer" will be the topic for 6 more posts, and then what? Hmmm, oh the possibilities ;)

It's not like that crap is done DURING the race, but it would be handy to have. Heck, it can even allow you to adjust at what temperature the cooling fan kicks on.

This is all too complicated, man. What ever happened to getting under your muscle, installing some huge thing to the engine, and then just slamming the pedal down and going, huh? All these computers, and timing, please.

By the way, this isn't really directed at you, Baglock, just how technology has effected cars in a negative way. You used to be able to kick a car to get it going and you'd stub your toe from the steel, and if that didn't work, you took it to a grease monkey. Now if you kick it, you'll ding something, and then you gotta take it to a "technician." Please.

I'll tell you what. Disconnect all you're engine management, tear out the EFI and replace it with a carb, and find someway to put a distributer with vacuum advance. See how many of those 264 horsies you get out of the 281 ci then. And when your jaw drops at the amount you lost, you can feel better in the fact you probably lost at least a third of your mileage too.

Yeah, cause the engine isn't designed to run without that stuff. Yeah, I know, 260 HP in 2001 is equal to 350 in 1967, but still, it is agitating sometime. Besides, even if I did loose a lot of HP, it wouldn't matter, cause I wouldn't have Honda's breathing down my neck, because they'd be lacking that tech, too. :D

I didn't think it was directed at me, but I used to feel the same way. It's true that there is "no replacement for displacement" but technology has improved things quite a bit, at least IMHO.

The truth is, cars aren't that different nowadays. Really the only change is how the fuel is managed throughout the system.

You shouldn't have Honda's breathing down your neck anyways. Me, maybe.
