Melbourne area stangs

howdy guys. sorry i didnt make it out there to the midnight drags. mom was having a ***** fit about everything under the sun...and i was about to go nuts and kill someone so i just spent the night at my next door neighbors.

also, yesterday my exhaust bolt (from my x-pipe to my muffler) came loose...so i had to do an emergency repair in the parking lot of discount auto parts. while my muffler was disconnected (only one of them) i fired up my car to see what it sounded like.   and damn...it was badass!!!:nice: raspy as hell, sounded like a damn 9-second hemi :D this really is making me want to run dumps, and erich...with your 4.6 i think it would sound great. friend of mine has a 01 gt with x-pipe and flows w/ dumps and it sounds sick :D really metallic sound, agressive as hell. :nice: i think you'll be happy with dumps, whatever pipe and muff's you decide on.

i would check out dynomax for your mufflers, flowmasters are everywhere...i think something different is always nice:nice:

hopefully, if my mom returns from sycho-ville...ill see you guys out there on wednesday or friday.:D

I'll prolly be going with either 3.55's or 3.73. I'll have to consult baglock and TJ about it, cause I don't think it's good to have a high first gear for AutoXing. But 3.73's will be the max. 4.10's...:nono:

I'd personally go 3.55......it'll help keep you in your powerband plus allow good all round driveability.

Hey baglock,
How bout these spoliers for your car?

now if only they made one for my vert:(

Yeah, I was talking to White about that...if I only had a hatch...

I think thats the only wing I wanted from Steeda.

Bill = $100?

Anyway, that hood looks very sweet. I've never seen a hood that looks like it. Very cool indeed. As is the wing. Too bad the cost so much. Maybe you can get that company to sponser you and send it to you for free. :D

I'm going to see if I can go hear some x's with dumps today. Can't wait to hear them. :nice:

That'd look sweet. I like them wheels on that white stang too.

yeah, me too. Those are BBS RX's (or something remarkably similar). I thought about getting a set, but they're a little soft for the street as they're basically race wheels.

Sweet. Be sure to tell us what the final verdict is. And yes, bill = $100  . Like I said, they ain't cheap.

Well, I went to the car wash to find Adam, but there he was not. So, I decided to go on out to Trick Pro and talk to TJ. So here's what I have discovered. X-pipes with cats (bassanni) cost $462 + $120 installed. But, to get those, I also need to get a chip, $345 + $45 installed. So the total comes out to just a wee bit under $1K. From graduation and all, I have $597 in cash, plus I can pull some out of the SVO fund. I aslo asked about going in steps, and he said to go with the chip first if I did that, so that to is a posibility. What do y'all think? :(

TJ says the error code thrown by the high flow cats (if it goes off) pulls timing. Everyone I've spoken to on SN says this isn't true  . I spoke to TJ about this and we were going to test it on my car, but I don't have the down stream O2's like the 4.6's do.

If you don't get the chip, you'll need the MIL eliminators to get rid of the check engine light.

Personally, before you dump money on the chip (unless you really want it) I'd test it. I mean if your just going to get the chip in an effort to keep the motor from pulling timing be sure that it's going to first.

This is how you'd test it. Check the total timing of the car while it's running. Then, while it's running, disconnect the down stream O2 sensors and check the total timing again. If it's less than what it was, he's right and you'll need the chip. Tell TJ you'll give him the business if he does the test for free. I'm sure he will.

:OT: I ordered the spoiler today! Should be here in a week :nice: . I was reeaally close to ordering that hood too, but my responsible side had a rare moment of strength and I decided to wait. :(

Why would you need a new chip burned for an x-pipe? That installation price is high, you can do that yourself......it really doesn't take too long nor is it very complicated IMO. Good luck man with whatever you end up doing.

The 4.6's are a bit different. The 5.0's don't have down stream O2's which are causing the questions.

And he's right Erich. They are an easy install.

The Mom I'd Like to, um, Freak eliminators, huh? ;)

Bag...um, slow down. I have NO clue what you're talking about. Down stream? What's that? He talked about timing, but I don't really know what it is. So you're saying I should just get the exhaust first then the chip, right?

And to those of you who think I should install it myself, I have bad luck whenever I install stuff.
Rear Bumper Decals: Looked like crap after a month.
Pedals: Couldn't get them on after 4 hours of trying.
K&N: Snapped bolt head off.
Tri-ax: Popping out of 3rd.

Whenever I work on my car, bad things happen. No thank you. I'll gladly pay for others to do stuff for me. Besides, then I have someone to get mad at if it goes wrong. :D

Upstream
5.0
Engine --- Exhaust ---- O2 ---- Cat
Downstream
4.6
Engine --- Exhaust ---- Cat ---- O2

I'm only guessing this cause I haven't seen the 4.6s setup.

Timing is when the iginition fires and stuff, if the computer senses something wrong it'll change when it fires to try to fix the problem, or at least handicap the engine until the problem is fixed.
