Melbourne area stangs

I just fixed an exhaust leak I didnt even realize I had! Every single bolt on the passenger side was lose. 3 on the drivers side were too. I tightened all of those bitches down..no torque wrench, couldnt fit one...just used a ratchet and a wrench.. Holy crap does this thing run nice now. I wonder how much this leak was robbing me from at the drag strip?!

Hey, have any of you guys had any parts shipped from Canada? Are there any other hassles/prohibitive costs connected to shipping from there?

I bought an underdrive pulley from a guy in western Canada. It took a bit longer to get here because of the distance but other than that, no problems. Shipping by UPS is about the same as from Washington state.

Well, now that I have a buyer for my car, I have to make him wait until atleast the end of May because I'll have no other mode of transportation. Mom won't let me use her car and I sure as hell ain't walking to school and work and wherever else I need to go.
Then she tells me " ..sell the car, then quit your job so you won't have to worry about needing a ride to work, and you can just walk to school.. " I'm sorry, but in the parental advice department, that's the most assenine thing I've ever heard.
Comming from someone who thinks I don't deserve a damn thing because I've had trouble holding a job down in the past, I finally get one I like and I have a boss I like, she tells me to quit so I don't have to worry about that without a vehilce. WHAT THE ****?? I also call my insurance providor to get a quote on this 98 GT I want for $11,200. In my opinion, I can afford the insurance, it's only about $90 more than I pay now, and in my opinion, it is beyond worth it. I let her know about it when I got home tonight, first thing she says: " .. you can't afford it.."
Each time I find a car in our price range, she shoots it down.
I feel like she doesn't want to get me a Mustang, just to spite me, and it's seriously pissing me off. She also just said that she's not sure if she is willing to spend that much now. When we first started talking about it, she said she would be willing to spend $10k. Then she changed her mind and said she would consider spending $10k, now, she says she doesn't think that she'd spend that kind of money at all. I'm ****ing tired of getting the short end of the stick because she doesn't think I deserve anything. I hate having an older brother who seemed to do everything right and made no mistakes. I'm ****ing tired of it.

..end rant.

dave, man that sucks. What a *****. I mean, seriously, walk to school? What is this? 1880? What kind of bad advice is that? Jeesh. I mean, c'mon. Maybe you'll get lucky and she'll front you some money or something. :(

Hey, what is wrong with walking to school. I used to walk to school uphill both ways 50 miles in snow.

Me too, except it was in a sandstorm. It would be 135* out and I'd have to have three heavy layers of clothes on just so the sand didn't shred my skin off. Kids today, I tell ya...:nonono:

That sucks, Dave, man.. Keep bugging her though....she might turn around on you if you catch her at just the right day.

Well, I'm officially pissed off now. My brakes are crapping out...dunno what's wrong, but I took it to have the examined after they were serviced, and the guy asked if I pulled my e-brake. I hadn't, but with the brakes off, the shoes in the drums were expanded and squeezing the drums. He got them off with a mallet and 2 screwdrivers, and pushed them back down. Brakes worked fine again, but felt rougher. I take the car out the day after this, hit the brakes, and POP!, my pedal loses 3 inches or so, and the car jerks forward. Now, my brakes are mush, grinding harder, and they HUM when I hit them....and if I hit them too hard, the pop comes back again and the car lurches. GOD DAMNIT.....I dont need to do any more *****ing repairs on this thing....

There's my rant. ;)

I would suggest having them checked out by someone qualified and experienced in brakes, stay away from any jack-leg shadetree mechanics. If your still having problems after having them serviced and you have since had them back to the same source of repair I would recommend finding a new technician to work on your car.

It's nice to go fast, but much nicer to be able to stop.

Yeah..well the mechanic today told me I had enough pedal left and it felt fine to him.....and that without knowing where the pops and problems came from, he'd be taking shots in the dark and it could get too expensive..... So we'll see what happens. I've got other problems to focus on too. One of which is why in the hell I feel a vibration through the floor only when I'm decelerating/braking in 3rd gear. Never heard of a transmission being 'rough' before.....
