Melbourne area stangs

Ooh...mack up on some of those pale North Carolina chicks. :D Man I know this chick from North Carolina....holy crap....she's soooooo hot. Heh.. ANYWAYS.... Man I might just consider buying your heads Dave, if I had money to spare aside from this tranny! Argh.

I tell ya guys what though...when that valve ISN'T ticking..I've got SO much more power. Took her down my street today without it ticking and jesus christ...felt like a slingshot. Hauled serious nuts. But as SOON as that ticking starts....it goes from a low 14 second car to a low 15 second car. :notnice:

That's cool, can I still bring the car down? I need to get it out of the garage.. mom keeps bitching at me to get it wherever it needs to go. I can pick up the motor another time, no rush..just need to get the Probe down there and sign it over to you so I can stop paying insurance on it.

Sylvania Silverstar's

I don't know if anyone is interested or not...but I just bought a pair of Sylvania Silverstar's (said to be the whitest/brightest/sharpest street legal bulb made) that I have no use for and can't return because I lost the damn receipt.

They are 9004 ST/2's (12 volt, 45/65), 4000K color temperature.

They're brand new...never used, and if anyone's interested, I'll sell and ship them to you for $35 bucks total (I bought them for $49.99).

Who knew a little piece of paper could be worth $50 bucks?
 :nonono:

Anyway, let me know...or feel free to email me.

I'd buy those bulbs.. If my headlight covers were worth a damn. But they're not. :( And my extra cash is going to a new water pump. I walk out last night to take the car to get some Pepsi and I notice a small puddle under it. I figure the front seal has opened up..or I've got a loose front drain plug...but no, it's antifreeze. Joy. It's leaking pretty bad now. :nonono: Damn money pit.

Glenn, are you up for Bradenton sometime in June? If they still do Saturday test and tune, I was thinking I could take the girlfriend over and stay in Clearwater Saturday night and make a weekend out of it. When was the last time you were there? I need lots of runs.

I might be up for it in June. I will have to check on their T&T schedule since I have never attended it before. Last I heard it was Saturday morning from 9 until 2 or something like that. I think it may be slick tires only, have to check.

The number is 941.741.8534 if you want to call. If I call them first I will let you know what I find out.

Ever tried wet-sanding them? I wetsand mine probably once every 9 months and they look good as new every time.

Get some 600, 800, and 1500 grit sandpaper...along with some 3M rubbing compound, and go at it. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes, and will cost you less than $15 bucks.

You can simply swish around a paper towel and some soap inside the lenses if that is dirty, but more than likely it's just the outside.

Good luck. :nice:

Excuse me everyone, hate to make a first post like this but...

Heh... I heard Glenn was throwing me under the bus hereabouts. Sorry not a regular here, but I was up around 400 posts or so at the Corral forums back in my 'stang days, and almost 300 worth of Lightning related ones over on F150Online. Anyways, some info on the **** car that beat you on street tires:

Weight: 3256 pounds, not the 3000 you mentioned. My Fox-bodies weighed less, though my corpulent '94 GT came in at 3400.

Power: 271hp and 273 ft/lbs. Though with the addition of the S-AFC fuel controller (analagous to your computer chips and yep, allowed in ESP) and a turbo back exhaust most people are seeing closer to 280hp to the wheels.

AWD: Not active on the US models. 50/50 split at middle differential, limited slip rear, open front. 5 Speed tranny.

Skidpad: .96, braking incredible with stock Brembos and antilock.

Yes it was that same ugly car from last month. He moved out of A Stock and into ESP this weekend. Not sure what changes he made to move up but the car really flies. He was a sloppy driver but the car made up for it. I read up on the car sunday and from the specs it has 280 HP and weighs ~3000# so the power to weight ratio is pretty damned good. With AWD and 15" brakes it hooks and stops too.

Appreciate the sloppy comment, even though I have won every event I have entered this year (first 3 CS with my Miata, last month AS versus the Acura NSX, and of course this month). I suppose I am not up to your standards. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I have no regrets from trading my Lightning for the Evo.

If you have heartburn with the classing, take it up with Doug Gill at the SCCA. Though you may have a tough sell... at least from the last email I exchanged with him. It is based on the long term classing of the AWD DSM cars into ESP, which has several years of precedence. Then the WRX was dropped into the mix. Not my fault no one campaigned them seriously, preferring STX instead. Thats fine, but the PAX is better in ESP, I can't play in STX, so I think I will stay in ESP.

Sorry all, I just don't care much for people who are happy to rag you when they think no one who cares is near, then backpeddle when someone calls them on it. (Appreciate the support dg28182 ) Sometimes the whole domestic/import bigotry gets really old.

See most of you either at auto-x or at the BMS gathering, or even at Doubles on Wednesday. Shiney side up all, and I am off, since posting here isn't right when I don't have a Mustang, only the wife's Expedition and a spare set of Lightning rims to my name.

Ian,
I certainly never meant to throw you under the bus. If I came off that way I offer my apology. In retrospect "sloppy" was a word of poor choice and shouldn't have been used. I thought I rectified my comment by pointing out that you were on street tires and the car was new to you. I imagine it drives totally different from a Miata.

In any event I was not trying to make my observations one of personalities, but rather one that questioned SCCA rules that classify the EVO in ESP. As for my information on the car's specs I gleaned them from a Mitsu site not realizing the US model was different.

Although I do have a preference for domestic cars I don't consider myself an import bigot, although I have been known to distribute "YOUR HONDA SUCKS" t-shirts at the dragstrip (for good reason I might add). I have had quite a few imports over the years with the most recent one being a 240SX. Any differences I have with imports has been due to the owners/drivers and some of their antics, not the vehicle itself.

In closing, congrats on your win Sunday, I'm sure you will have more in the future.

Well guys, I'm headed back tonight. I'm not looking forward to the long ass flight, but c'est la vie. I'm coming back with a nasty infection of Kazaa though. Think I can get a shot for that? I downloaded it last night and have been downloading music pretty much non stop. At least I'll have something to listen to on the plane while doing my trip report. :nice:

Glad to hear your coming home. What the hell is Kazaa?

Long flight? It's only about 8 hours from Brasilia isn't it?

When I came back from Brasil (I flew out from Rio to Sao Paulo then to Orlando) I thought the trip would never end. I drank a bunch of that South American red wine and then slept for a good long while. I was lucky I had an empty seat next to me so I was able to use both seats and stretch out a bit. Unfortunately after I woke up I had one hell of a headache from all the wine. :(

Hope your trip back is a smooth one.

Kazaa is a music sharing program that is basically the Napster of today.

I have to fly out through Sao Paulo. That adds 4 hours to the trip.
