Melbourne area stangs

Well, somebody f**ked with the wrong guy. I just got a nice letter from my bank explaining that the certified check someone sent in payment for some stuff of mine was counterfeit.

Now Mama didn't raise no fool, so I hadn't sent anything off yet but I'm still pretty pissed. Looks like I'll be contacting the FBI tomorrow.

That sucks! :mad::uzi:scammers
Glad to hear you hadn't sent the parts yet. Hopefully, the FBI will be able to track down the person.

Book 'em Dano! :D

:rlaugh:Sorry couldn't resist.

Well, the mechanic still has both of my cars. He has yet to fix the leak in the stang. I didn't think it would take all day to fix. Still not sure exactly what the problem is myself. But I'm not happy about it not being done yet. :nonono:

Hey Glenn, check your email when you get a chance.

Also, I gave your email address to Jean Kinser from Evolution. She wanted to make sure she had everyone's contact information for announcements.

I emailed her last week and didn't hear back so I gave her a call and left a message. She returned my call this weekend. Turns out they were up in the Chicago area and weren't able to access all their messages until the weekend.

FWIW I tried calling DeSoto to get the info on T&T on Saturday morning but no one answered the phone. Maybe they were closed since it was Father's Day weekend? I did start the beast up weekend before last so I know it still runs anyway. :)

Looks like with an AX this coming weekend and the Evolution school the following weekend June isn't going to work out for the drag strip. July maybe?

Who is doing the work for you Erich? I would think a power steering leak should be a pretty quick fix for someone that knows their stuff.

Those plastic reservoir/pump housings are prone to leakage but I wouldn't think yours would be leaking this soon. Come to think of it I believe your car has a different pump that uses a remote reservoir. Let's hope it is just a leaky hose and not a rack.

It's one of my dad's friends who is a mechanic. He's done a lot of work on both of my parents cars, and he seems to be an alright guy.

July maybe?
It's only June and my summer's almost totally booked. I'm going to New York one weekend in July and also going to a concert in Daytona one weekend. I also need a free weekend to do my heater core. A few weeks into August and then I have to go back to school. Maybe I'll just drive to Orlando one Wednesday and get my drag racing fix, even if my times will suck.

Does anybody have a set of stock tailpipes laying around that they want to sell that would fit a 96 Cobra. With an O/R X-pipe, 2 chamber flows that are dumped it produces a very, very, loud resonating sound from 2-3.5k rpms. I really can't take it. It sounds like a damn race car and I am worried I will get pulled over for this. I thought about getting an O/R H-pipe to give it a deeper tone instead of the loud scream of the X-pipe but then I would be stuck with $212 pipe and it produced a good amount of power over the stock one.

It's the Flows, get some good mufflers and it will tone it down a lot without sacrificing power. Tailpipes will help a lot too, but 2 chamber flows are very noisey even with tails.

Can anybody recommend a muffler that sounds good with an X-pipe? I was thinking about Dynomax Ultra Flow Race Magnums. I would prefer to go with dumps again because I could just have them welded in for cheaper than buying a whole new cat-back. I'm not sure if these straight through mufflers like dynomax and magnaflow would get rid of the resonating sound if they were dumped also like my 2 chambers. I am sure I don't want to find out the hard way either like when I replaced one of my flows already because the old one had metal rattling around inside of it. I thought my rusted out flowmaster was the reason for that horrible sound, nope another waste of money down the drain on brand new muffler and welding cost that still has the car sound like crap :nonono:

Wonder how the sound on that combo compares between a 4.6 and a 5.0... I've got Flows..pretty sure they're 2 chamber but I've worked all today and I have no memory right now...but they're 40's series......and an O/R X pipe too, with shorty headers (hunks of cast-iron CRAP)...but it's on a 5.0.....the sound is raspy as hell but I get used to it. Make sure to post if you find a kick ass muffler, I'd be curious to know.....I dont like these Flowmasters. Not deep enough above 2 or 3 grand.

The sound difference between a 5.0 with an x-pipe and a 4.6 with an x-pipe is like comparing night and day. They are totally different sounds.

The mod motors with x-pipes and Flows sound REALLY metallic, kinda like nuts and bolts gettin thrown around in the mufflers (at first I hated the sound, but It's grown on me and I like it alot now). With dumps ontop of that, I can imagine it's loud as a mofo.

I would try a pair of Ultraflows, or SuperTurbo's if your wanting to save a little money. I've run both (currently have the Ultraflow's) and they have a little bit of resonance around 2k (starts around 1900 and goes away by 2300rpm's) once their warmed up...but other than that, they're quiet as a Buick. Once you hit the gas though, they really scream, and sound nice.:nice: :jester:

There's not much thats NOT going to be loud and resonate with dump's and an x-pipe on a 4.6...but Flowmaster's are DEFINATELY not the thing you wanna run if you don't want a headache and mondo amounts of attention. You gotta make it out to a meet before you switch em out though, I wanna hear it!:nice: :worship: :jester:

Im also running a O/R x-pipe with flomasters. At first I hated how it sounded but it grows on you.Gonna change to a mac dump set up.Sense I wont be driving it to work everyday no more.I could care less how loud it is.The cams also should change its tone anyways.

Whenever the next meet comes I will be there. I'm not sure if I will have them still on by then, probably going to buy a dynomax race magnum cat-back tonight. But if they are still on there, be ready for a pretty horrible sound. One of the loudest metalic resonating sound know to man. At idle it has a loud deep thump, which sounds good, and in the 4-7k rpm range is sounds bad ass but anything between that
