Can anyone tell me how much PSI the turbo off a Merkur makes? I found one at a junkyard but I cant remember the year, so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

What do you mean by "makes"? Depending on mods, elevation, etc you could run it up to around 25 psi, but I wouldn't go past maybe 22. You start heating up the air som much that you aren't gaining anything.

One of the local guys had been runnin 25+ on the gauge up here at "high" elevation. It finally self destructed, probably from overspeeding it. The turbine just destroyed itself and took the turbine housing with it.

Pit, are you saying that a stock (.60/.63) T3 could run higher than 15 psi without an IC?

I just turned mine up to 15psi, and have been toying with the idea of more boost?

No, how did you get that from what I said? See the part where I said "Depending on mods..." ? Just giving you a hard time.

I always had good luck with 15-16 psi, and around 13 degrees of timing with 92/93 octane and no intercooler in the last "stock" car I had. Probably could have done more, but it was fine for driving up and down I35 to work everyday.

Depending on yout timing, octane, etc I wouldn't try much more than 15 or 16. Every car is a little different of course. There comes a point when you can actually go slower by turning up the boost further because of the heat. More boost would probably work fine at certain times of the year, like winter, but you might be only one extra hot ay or a bad tank of gas away from problems.

The guy who destroyed his turbo mentioned his car felt slower at 26 psi than it did much lower. Didn't surprise the rest of us. I would like to know just how fast his turbo must have been spinning. The higher the elevation, the harder the turbo has to work to maintain the same boost level. Not sure why he kept driving it like that. I think he just wanted to see what would happen.

The stock turbo and stock actuator would only make 9 or 10 psi.
If you have the factory boost controller hooked up you get 14 to 15, or go with a aftermarket boost controller and raise it more.
