Metal Fender Flares for 65 Mustang

"I heard the fiberglass can delaminate from the metal in a few years."

Mine have been on since the 60's and I just sanded the passenger side quarter panel down. The paint had rock chips , so I really expected the fiberglass to be damaged or show some signs of delamination. They look as good as new. I can send a picture for someone to post, or might be able to do it myself if its not to complicated. I just bought a digital camera.

stranger - Please post a picture of your car for us. The easiest way is to go to Photobucket.com and open a free accout to house pictures, or if you really need help send me a PM and I'll see if I can post it for you.

Hi new here, I have installed many glass body parts and flares over the years from Maier Racing and others in the past. Just a thought for glass parts, I prefer to use alumium rivets when bonding on most glass parts and to leave them in place for extra strength when filling over. I have had a customers car and one of my own that broke an axle at speed and the flairs and body work were undamaged. My 70 mach has Maier flares along with other parts that were installed over 20 years ago and are still perfect, the car uses 15X10 rear and 15X8 front wheels. I have never seen anyone offer/market large weld on steel wheel flares but metal bubble ones could be custom made by the right person easy enough.

you can see pics of mine here

I think the wheel's on it now are 9 " . IIrc I have had both m-60's and m-50's on the back before. Like a 10" and a 12" wide tire, Old school style.

393 Boss & strange65 thanks for the pics and replies, your cars look good. IMO, i still think the Maier FRONT flares seem to be too large in relation/proportion to the rear. IMO, 393boss offers a good recommendation concerning the generic metal flares.
