MGW = amazing?

Hey Stangnet was looking for some feedback on MGW short throw shifters for the t-56. Cars in the shop as we speak and i'm thinking about picking one up and having it installed wile its there. Any feedback on short throws, espeically MGW short throws is greatly appreciated

i heard that mgw was awesome, but i only have experience with PRO 5.0 and the stock one (on a t-45, but I'm sure they don't change that much in feel)
The PRO 5.0 was great over stock, i love the notchy feel, its like a race car the throw is short enough. I think what ever shifter you get you'll like it, but if you have some extra coin get the mgw.

MGW is great I have it on my 3650. Like it better than the triax I had on a t45

I had one on mine for a while. I don't know if "wow" is how I'd describe it. It is high quality, it does definitely deliver a short and notchy shift and it is reasonably quiet. I haven't tried others (except stock) to compare the noise to but I didn't find it objectionable.

I just grew fatigued by the overly high effort. The truck-like throw of the OE shifter is laughable in comparison but it's also easy-peasy and was simply more appealing to me for a street-driven car where 0.05-seconds off a shift aren't critical. When I had a trans fluid leak start at the shifter (where it bolts to the top of the trans), I decided to put the factory part back in place and box the MGW.

Very nice shifter, just not for me.

IIRC, MGW used to offer "red" and "blue" handles for their shifters. I think the blue was shortest while the red was a bit longer allowing you to trim the shortness and reach of the shift to your own liking. I'm not sure they even offer those choices anymore.

They combined the "red" and the "blue" to the "orange" which is what they sell now. I'm sure it's great. I have an older "red" and I still love it!

i have has a tri-ax, hurst and pro5.0 in different Mustangs, I CURRENTLY have the MGW in my 03 GT and I must confess it is the best out of the 4 different ones I have tried

The MGW is a very well built piece.
I don't find it to be any more amazing than the others I have used.

I have the UPR that I got years ago when it was on sale for $75. Might be the price but I would choose the UPR over the MGW for shifting purposes.

Now if it were a cosmetic thing the MGW is a very well built piece.

i have had a pro 5.0 and now have mgw and the mgw is way better in all aspects

I replaced my stock shifter with an MGW a couple days after I bought my car. I have experienced the pro 5.0 in the same year stang as mine- its a nice peice, however the MGW is a million times better. Much more comfortable, I don't have to "reach" for the shifter. The MGW is adjustable unlike the pro 5.0, so I can sit back comfortably and reach all gears. The absolute best part of the MGW is the stiff centering springs...I have NEVER missed a shift between 2nd & 3rd, just push up on the shifter and it goes into 3rd by itself. Just remember, if your trans has internal shift stops, be sure to remove the stops from the MGW shifter (if you buy it).
