I read it was alot quieter than the stock shifter. Its actually abit louder than the stock i think. Because you can hear each shift lock into place (no its not hitting the stop) on each shift.

But.. its not such a big deal like most people make it out to be. I mean its alot shorter, but whats the big deal? Not this mention this project cost me $22 dollars which was my fault. I drained the cars battery by keeping the inside lights (plus a extra light) on while installing this bitch. Started @ 6pm and finished @ 11pm.. thats all including the trips to the auto store to get a 10mm socket and sometime later after i drained the battery i had to run to kmart and get some jumper cables. ROFL. Anyways heres before and after picture.

and after

ROFL, i made a U-Turn in the middle of the (empty) street to turn around but i actually was stuck in the middle of the street for maybe 15 seconds because i couldn't find the reverse gear. It was actually abit closer which confused the freak out of me.

Thanks stangGT97 for the shifter

LOL it took you 5hrs to do a shifter?? It (quite literally) took me 10 minutes just last week to do mine.

The shifter is quieter in the sense that you can't hear the transmission whine and the gears grind as much - not in the actual action of the shifting... Of course thats gonna be louder, cuz its better

- I was doing good till i had to stop to pick up someone from the train station...
-run inside the house than back some times...
-than figure out why the **** my car wasn't starting.. (thread in 4.6 tech explains what happened) that took some time running to stores only to find they dont have cables.. wtf than running back home.... .
- oh ya since i just moved to this neighborhood i got lost trying to find a new route to the stores for jumper cables since a train was stopped on the tracks on the street i know. =(

oh well all is done now rofl.

Anyways, i dont think im getting the night/day experience because of the short ride i took. Im going to take her out for a longer ride and see if i can get the short shifter pwns all experience.

Just get use to it over the next couple weeks. It'll loosen up and you'll get the hang of it's short shift pattern.

its already loosened up. It was brought from a user on it. I just took it for another drive and its better than stock, but any short throw i would feel the same about more than likely lol.

Glad to see you've successfully installed it. Thanks again for your patience in dealing with all that USPS shenanigans... it does take a bit of getting used to, but after that you'll wonder why you waited so long to get it

It's surprising that you think it's not a drastic difference. I had a friend with a 02 GT get in my Stang and just make some dry shifts and he was amazed. You know, after a month, try to find a Stang with a stock shifter and shift it a few times. You'll see.

it took me an hour to put in my shifter cause i couldnt find a dang razor blade to scrap off teh old sealant that was probably the hardest and longest part for me.

Stuff has to be loud or else you wouldnt be driving a mustang. Ive started getting use to all the crap that rattles on my car lol my xpipe has vibrated the car apart.
