I just finished putting an MGW in my 02 Gt. I have a guestion for MGW owners. My car had two inner rubber shift boots. One was on the stock shifter and the other was the one surrounded by the "picture frame" that they refer to in the instructions. The instructions only refered to putting the "picture frame "one back on so I left the other off. Is this what you guys did too

I put both boots back on ...although it took some work to slide it back over. I've had no problems and its not quiet but silent

update: I called MGW and was told by George that the inner most boot is not needed but can be used to reduce noise if you want so long as you remove the grommet from the "picture frame" boot so they don't bunch up on the shaft and also not to pull it all the way down the shaft like on the stock shifter. He also said that if you drive on dirt roads it could help reduce dust but they have not seen any issue leaving it off. For now I am going to leave it off unless the tranny gets too loud.

Henceforward
