i just installed the MGW shifter on my car, and now it won't go into 2nd gear, 4th gear, or reverse. I'm new at this so can anyone think of what I could have done wrong during the installation that would cause this? Sometimes i can get into reverse, but it just pops out right after i start to back up. thanks.

Did you set the shifter stops? It should have came with directions on how to do this. If not read on.

It sounds like the 2,4,R screw is turned in to far. Back the screw out then put the shifter into 4th gear. Run the screw back in until it touches the shifter then back it out a 1/4 turn.

There is a pic in this link that shows what to do. It even shows the side you need to work on.

yea i just thought of that, and it makes sense because it seems like there is something stopping it from going into gear, so i probably set the stop point too close and need to re-adjust the stop points.

Henceforward

When I installed mine the other day, I turned it until it touched, and then backed it off 1 full turn like the instructions read.

Be sure to set it in 4th, then also check, 2nd, and reverse, to see if the stop is set to far. After all that is done, then tighten it down...
