I have been noob blowing up this forum with terminator questions and here is another one....

I just put my MGW short throw on my t-56 and without the car running(can't run it because the blower is out getting Stiegemeier's magic worked on it) it is hard as tacks to get the thing into reverse! I am talking about I have to use both hands to push it to the far right and get her up into reverse.... any ideas or is it perhaps cause I don't have the car running?

Thanks

It should be firm, but not taking two hands and all your strength! Is the hard part moving the handle to the right, or moving the handle up once it's all the way over to the right?

I'm betting that the tranny is bound up just a little. It can happen when you row through the gears a few times while not moving. I'll bet if you could push the car a foot or two while it was still in gear it would free up the bind and you'd be able to put it in reverse. I would worry too much at this point though.

Damn you are really going all out on these new mods huh???

I certainly am going all out. Just ordered the LDC cooling mod too for this hog.

It is taking all my strength to push it to the right, it is a real beast too.

I just want to get all the performance I can out of the stock blower without changing the lower pulley... don't want to overdrive ALL my accesories.

Word of advice....you WILL not utilize the port with just an upper. The ported blowers only increase airflow....with the upper you are already pretty much maxed out. You need to up the boost to take advantage of the extra flow from the port in order to see the $$ worth.

For example:

Here were my mods after I bought my car.

2.8
Borla Stingers
SCT Raptor
S&P cone filter
Stock mid pipe

On 93 octane I made 464/480

After about 4 months I decided to get the Stage 3.

Stage 3
2.8
Stingers
SCT Raptor
JLT CAI
Stock mid pipe

On 91 octane I made 474/456

Was not happy.

Then I went to a 3" MAC exhaust, MAF.ia, and a 2.5 O/R X-pipe.

Steg Stage 3
2.8
MAC 3"
SCT
BBK 2.5 O/R X
JLT CAI
Mafia

On 93 octane I made 491/477....better.

Then I got the Stage IV and a 2# lower.

Steg Stage IV
2.8
2#
SCT
MAC 3"
BBK 2.5 X
Mafia
JLT CAI

With a more aggressive tune I made 519/509 on 93 octane.

(Basically with just the port I made 15-20 hp MAX.- to me not worth the $$ if you are not willing to get the lower)

AND with the lower, all you need is a LFP alternator pulley.

Okay. I just found this information on another website and it pertains to your problem. Might be worth checking out.

Check the wires going to the reverse lock out solenoid. Your explanation is a little diferent from those who usually have left it unplugged or the wires have gotten pinched during a tranny install or some other work. Usually they have to use 2 hands two muscle it into reverse, but it could be your problem.

Check your fuses. Its a 20A. yellow. Under the dash

Location of reverse lockout selenoid:

Hope all this helps.

That does help a lot UM. It is exactly what George from MGW said, suggested a blown fuse during car work somehow. Well that was it.... reverse lock out solenoid.

Anyone know why the heck Tremec would put a reverse lock out solenoid in this thing? So far I only see it keeping me out of reverse while parked... does it also keep you out of reverse while moving?

I guess it's for those people who really suck at shifting to prevent them from shifting from 4th to reverse by accident.

yeah Reverse is usually temperamental with me, but not two-hands temperamental!

glad to see you got it taken care of.

i was thinking it might have binded. alot of bikes i know do that, if you park with them in 1st and say you move the bike backwards a few inches, you have to roll it forward to be able to click it back into neutral. My Ninja was like that, one day we parked on a hill and took me about 5 minutes to get the ****er out of 1st so i could start it, one biker came by, i told him i couldnt get out of first, he grabbed the bike and rolled it forward, and as he did you heard a click and it went into neutral with standard ease. later on my buddies new Buell did the same on a different trip, i went over, rolled it forward, clicked it into neutral.

the reverse lockout is designed too keep you from shifting into reverse when your moving above 5 mph going forward.. (aka, downshifting from 6th into 5th, it will stop you from shifting into reverse, which is a very good thing)
