mid pipe question.????

well heres the deal. everybody says that the mid pipe is more restrictive than the the cat back on our beloved mustangs. however ive heard horror stories about people switching out their mid pipe and having horrible gas mileage poorer performance etc. etc. the list goes on. is there any truth to any of these claims? are they just coincidental? or mod specific? my cars mostly stock actually very stock and i was wondering on how it would affect my car. should i buy it or should i just save my money for gas?

When I put my midpipe in my mileage actually got better.Thats because you don't have all those cats causing back pressure. Question are you talking about an offroad midpipe or one with high flow cats? I don't know why gas would be a problem a great deal of people have aftermarket midpipes and I never heard of anyone having poor gas mileage because of it.

Other than the Tri-Ax my mid pipe was the very first thing I did to my stang at first I thought gas mileage went way down but I finally realized it was cause I so in love with the way the car sounded I was just pushing the "loud" pedal too much that and I didn't have working MILS

Actually I get better gas mileage now than before I don't know exactley how many mpg I get but I do know that my miles per tank has increased significantly went from 190-210 city to 230-260 city.

I have an MRT H-pipe w/cats and the stock cat back. I noticed a significant increase in power especially between 3-5K rpm's. I may have lost 1 mpg at the most or it might be that I am just gettin on it more. I can't speak for mid pipe's w/o cats, but it was not an issue in my case.

yeah, I think that the mileage goes because people like the way it sounds. Mine's not doing too great right now because I only have one working O2 sensor (broke the factory ones pulling them out). I have a thing with getting on it, plus it's running real rich, so I won't think about the gas thing til after i get the O2 sinsor situation fixed

My o/r X caused my gas mileage to increase. In fact, my GT gets more mpg than my wife's 5 spd. V6 stang.
