Midlife crisis???

So....Today i decided to get my gt washed.... It was filthy from the winter months. To make a long story short i get the car clean looks sweet and shiny. I decide to take it for a spin.

The 1st stoplight i come to a younger guy i would say 25ish pulls up in a monte carlo ss a newer one. All the sudden just shouts "midlife crisis"? with a smirk. Im 35 and i guess im in my midlife but i was like wtf. He says it again and i said screw u and your pices of shi* chevy. Light turns green i leave a sweet patch and im gone.

Whats up with people like that? was he jealous? not like i was driving a ferrari.

Anyway just thought i would share that. he was totally acting cocky and like a complete tool. I probably shouldnt of said that to him but whatever.

The S-197 Mustang seems to be very polarizing. Millions of people appear to like if not love the S-197. On the other hand many, many people, for whatever reason appear to be very hostile to the S-197. Maybe it's just old fashioned jealosy.

Better yet, I woulda shouted "grandma's car?" My dad would never drive a Monte Carlo.

Call it what you want, mine is a reward. I sacrificed for years raising kids, doing without myself to take care of other people. Living off a military salary and driving poc cars.

Now I am 44, special ordered the car I wanted and wrote a check for it. Mid life crisis, naw, reward. You should feel bad for this guy not having the wherewithall to have better judgement. Then smoke him and his girly car.

I'm a married man and if this is "midlife crisis" then I'm loving it. Matter of fact I have had more chicks hit on me since I've had my S197 than ever before.

I guess every fast, flashy car is a remedy for a man's 'midlife crisis', or so it's said. Maybe all us 30 somethings should be driving 4 cyl Ranger pickups, then you KNOW the women will go wild as we obviously have:
1. more than enough in our pants
2. enough self-confidence to not NEED a fast car
3. the ability to haul their crap wherever they need
4. money in the bank

Well I'll stick with the stang life. I've owned them since I was 16 - had so many years and models in so many states of repair I've lost count. Aint stoppin now.

I get guys in Chevy pickup trucks trying to race me all the time....wtf??

Also, I'm 38 and married...guess I'm part of the midlife crisis crowd too..

ill joke with older guys driving sports cars(i'm 21) about their "midlife crisis" but i never really mean anything by it b/c i kow when i get there ill still have my 06gt or even a newer stang or maybe an exotic if i could manage to afford one some day to drive around it and ill get the smartass comment as well. best to do is take it with a grain of salt, and like you said, leave a nice patch and smoke em, lol

20 somethings

Its difficult if not downright hard for a lot of 20 somethings to get a start in life so he's probably driving granny's monte and living at home. Maybe mom and dad wouldn't let him have a mustang, even at age 25.

My nephew is a techie, makes good money but lives in the Bay Area/Sonoma County in CA with my brother and sis in law. Average houses are around $600k to be conservative. A car costing in the high $30s when you're all done or even up to $40 is simply more than he is willing to pay.

As for midlife crisis, I suppose I've had 2.

The whole MLC issue makes me laugh. This guy is obviously just a jealous punk. My personal MLC story goes like this: Not long after I bought my first `Stang (a very well cared for 5-year old used red 95 GT Conv), I ran into a former supervisor of mine. I had been through a very long and messy divorce and the GT was a present to myself. This knuclehead.s comment was "nice car, mid-life crisis huh?" I looked him dead in the eye and said "funny, you didn't say that to Jack last year when he was showing off his new Camaro at the company picnic." I went on to say, "you all but dry humped his leg for a ride in the damn thing!" Jack was our "Big Boss." He showed up at the company picnic in a brand new red Z-28 convertible with his fat, bleached-blonde secretary in the passenger's seat, the one who everyone knew that he was doing on the side. Old Zippy (our knickname for the supervisor) couldn't say a word which was definitely a rarity for him...
It was at about that time that I decided life in the civilian workforce just wasn't all it was cracked up to be and went back into the Marine Corps...

Im in my late 20's and have yet to expirance someone saying im having a MLC because I drive a stang. I always thought MLC applies to people in their late 40's and 50's who go out and buy corvettes or mercedes to feel young again. But as 351 CJ stated, people are either amazed by the S197 or just jealous. Thats why I dont wash my car often. Whens it washed, everyone and their mom trys to race me. About a week ago some drunk military guys decided to throw coins at my roof from their truck, and I was just minding my business trying to get home after work. Talk about stupid stuff people do! Its like im in high school all over again. And these are supposed to be professionals! I can sit here all night and talk about all the crazy things my stang and Ive been through after only a year, but in the end, my car is fast and looks good, and very few cars on the road can match it. So I say *%$@ all the jealous people out there and be proud that we all drive a car they wish they could have and be seen in.

I've had Mustangs all my life, at least since I was old enough to drive. I've had many, many different models, some rare, some not. I wish I still had all of them. I am 54 and now drive an automatic because arthritis and back problems prevent me from driving a five speed. I actually have a handicapped parking permit and get strange looks when I park my Mustang in a handicapped zone. I will drive Mustangs until I die. I'm thinking about being buried in one. Is that an after death crisis?
