so.. i was at the dealership i bought my truck from and they had a couple 06 gts left that they havnt been able to get rid of and I was talking to them about picking up one of them (one is stock gt, the other the owner had work done to it).... one of the conditions was to have a kennebell supercharger installed on it and included in my purchase price.. im just curious thouigh as I asked before... what can I get out of an 06 gt horsepower, reliably, and what will i have to ugrade first.... will my clutch slip with that much power? will my tranny go ape**** with that much power? will I snap an axle launching at 2500rpm on street tires? will I blow my bottom end? is my cooling system sufficient for that much power? can I do top speed runs safely (the 03 cobra condition) and not knock my pistons?

i kinda have to decide because I dont want to get an 07, ill be looking at 2% more financing charge, and another 2-3,000 on a purchase price..w hen all it does is give me a headache with the cooling system, a different computer (from what ive heard atleast) and its essentially the same damn car.. I basically have until christmas to decide

I will give it a shot. It is generaly believe you are safe with a good tune to about 400-450 rwhp. I would think that if anything gave a trouble in this range it would be the Clutch, but I am not really sure. Basically, if the KB is installed and tuned well you probably be fine, but nothing is guarnteed.

If you don't go over 10PSI AND you get a good dyno tune you should be fine with the stock block. You won't snap your axles launching at 2500rpm or with stock tires. You will do a hell of a burnout though. You snap axles when you HOOK and that won't happen with street tires. The first thing you break probably will be the clutch. Have fun.

550? To the wheels? I seriously doubt it.

at that power level, you will throw a rod or two through the block.

Without any inside engine work, I'd highly suggest and recommend 450rwhp or you will throw a rod or two.

Kinda of a small point but I don't believe 07 GT come with standard 3.55 gears like the 06 but I could be wrong. Thought I read it was a $100 option

Build up the engine

I have built engines my self for years but old stuff from the 60's and 70's for my street cars. I dont know anything really about the 4.6 past the C&L intake and Brenspeed tune I did allready.
But with a shop manual for my 07 GT I feel certain I can at least afford to pull the heads and have them ported and polished. It worked wonders on the old stuff, I would think it still would now. A set of Stage 3 Crane Cames and bigger injectors and high out put fuel pump would wake it up considerably, and give it a cool idle allthough I heard the Crane cams idle fairly smoothly.

Im too scared to do it while its under warranty, but its the only car I have. Does any one know what a person could expect out of the parts I described in terms of horsepower and torque? I admit not knowing much about my 07 GT's engine, but it would seem to be less trouble and more reliable in the long run to run naturally asperated but with a proper tune after the head work, cams and injectors, and maybe a set of underdrive pulleys the bad boy ought to haul some serious butt!

At least for the street. Would it be less expensive to do what I laid down above " along with less power" than a supercharger set up? Im just too old school I guess to relate to having a supercharged Mustang GT that I would still be driving 10 or 15 years from now. If Im wrong about long term supercharger - engine reliability, straighten me out on that ok?
Thank you ver much.

You won't break an axle. They are 31 spline and the differential is fairly stout. The transmission will take what the KB has going on, no problem. The engine will most likely be safe at 8 lbs boost on a canned tune and up to 10-12 lbs on a good dyno tune. I've seen '05's with good tunes (I mean tuned by a damn good tech that knows this system) not blow until well over 600 RWHP. I'd jump right on that KB stang if I were you.

Don't listen to all of the crap people are saying. What I'm saying here is pretty much how it is. Of course, nothing's guaranteed. Keep it under 6300 R's , think about getting it tuned and as far as the clutch goes, some guys have been way over 600 to the wheels and had no problems some have put a blower on and broke the clutch after 10-15 drag radial launches. It should hold up well with street tread. Good luck and get the KB stang! You'll love it.

for advice,i believe you can have s/c,an sct tune, cai, headers, exhaust.after that i would suggest anything over 8lbs. and any more mods,id pull the motor.any more work and i would invest in a good clutch(centerforce).if anyone here has worked on the motor, let me know what you used and such, but i dont want to switch the subject of this forum.

As far as a clutch goes I would suggest calling Justin Burcham. 1-866-JPC-RACE. He has a set up that works as good as you're going to get with the stock hydraulics. From what I hear it's a mix and match of brands that supposedly works well. I would recommend the Centerforce because it is decent compared to what's out there, but I'd definitely go with what Justin recommends.
