We don't have a 1/4 mi track close around here so 1/8 will have to do until I get a cage. My collector bolts keep coming loose, and drops the psi from 8 to 7. I did get two good passes where I didn't have to let out. After the first pass I spent an hour trying to find a miss at 5600-5800. Then to make it complicated it was doing it at a free rev without a load. The chip was set to 6400 so I gathered the balls to hit it. Come to find out the damn thing was hitting early, or my tach is off. Since I didn't bring the other chips, I just took it out. Problem solved.
First good pass got me 7.117@98.69 with a 1.72. I have to find where I shifted to get the MPH. The next pass was even better. 7.021@96.98 with a 1.62 60ft. Traction still sucks and I can't build but 1, maybe 2 at most. I don't know what going on. I used to get traction like nobodies business. I don't understand if the track prep is that poor or what... Still pump gas. I'd like to see 6.70's or 6.80's with this setting once it gets worked out and get a trans brake. Finally passed my old nitrous setup with the 100 shot, but I still haven't filled a bottle. Gonna start making kits here pretty soon. Nothing fancy. Just enough to split a block on pump gas.

Maybe now I'm fast enough for this guy. Half the stuff he says is wrong, but hey. And when I had a sentence in my sig to the effect of "Hopefully 475 to the ground will get me into the 10's on a home built motor and trans. So out of no where i get this PM. Don't even know the guy, nor even seen him post. And when I got this my motor was making 473 ft/lbs to the ground. To bad he spent so much on things. My tranny only cost me 430 to build. 1000hp to get into the 10's ?!?!

10 second....you've got a way to go.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can run just under 11 in my 64.5 on gas from 2nd on out. On gas I have ~ 530HP and 560ft.lbs of torque. I run 10.25:1, and have about $8000 invested in the engine. a 9.9 class gas car requires about 1000 HP to get into those times. The curve of HP to track time is not linear PLUS most of the little calculators do not account for loss in the drive train, tire rotations, loss of torque in the body, etc. I do not want to depress you but to get 10 seconds out of a 2500 lb car with 450 HP at the rear wheels only gives: 10.7 seconds and says your traction is perfect. Also note your speed would be around 150MPH! My car is built to hit the track/street hard and often, I have 2500 in the trans alone, TCP r&9, flared rear fenders and 275/50 r15 nitto drag radials and a bunch more ponies than you do and there's not a snow balls chance in hadies of getting to tens.

However, it don't take that much to run low 12s, and low 12s will eat just about everything in the stop-light to stop-light street fight. With little work, but some money 2500lbs. can fly and a 3300lb vette needs quite a bit to keep up with you. of course, he'll pass you later but...my blocks are not that long

Yeah, I know. Kinda feel like it bragging to a point. There faster guys. On here included. Just feels good when YOU build something, that it works. But half the reason I do it is for the a**hole that PM'ed me with this crap. Especially when he has know idea whats going on, what it actually takes to go fast, or what I had.

The fuel is 10an into a A100, 8an to the reg. 6an into the carb, with a 10an return. I have 90/10s with roller perches and 6 cyl springs up front. Landrum drag springs out back with home made caltracs and summit adjustables. The spring are looking a little flattened though. Think they need a re-arch.

I was hoping you made it to the track yesterday and congrats on the better times. Posting pics, telling stories is how we all learn. It is bragging in a way I guess, but it does help others learn. I remember a thread a while back that was flat out bragging, and it was not yours. When is the brake going in? It is ashamed you can't borrow a smaller ex housing. An .84 p-trim housing is laying around somewhere in your area and changing it would be easy.

Thanx Brian. I have thought about the .84 housing. Rich(12sec67) and I were talking about it the other day. I simulated a trans brake the other day. I threw it into 3rd and gave it some pedal. Full spool at 4k. Mine did the same as pauls did on the brake. Mine went to 3500, slowed for a sec and went to spooled until 8 lbs and stopped at 4k. Only problem is the .84 really wouldn't help traction right now. The car spins out of the whole, trying to grab. Grabs for a second, then hits full boost and they come loose again. It is very scary at this point. Need a smaller steering wheel. Would help, have the stocker right now.
Seriously squeeze, that would be the first thing I ditched. I grabbed an EFI pump and everyone said if it would work, someone would have been using it by now. That wasn't good enough for me. The flow ratings shoulda been good for over 600 hp. Nope. Hell, after the problem I just had, could be the rev limiter hitting early...? God that pissed me off.

Yeah right, It took me 6 hours to get home from La Mesa on a Saturday evening.

Shoulda PM'ed my dude. Me and Rich both live in La Mesa.
I'd like to. But haven't for the same reason I never did it before. It's just too far to travel just to get kicked out for no cage.
Rich took some on his phone, but it's only a phone. Anybuddy know if you can change tape to electronic ? I could tape it normally, then transfer ?

You have an analog camcorder? What you can do is take video on analog(VHS, VHS-C, etc) and play it onto a digital camcorder(MiniDV, Digital 8, etc), then put it on a computer.

This is where the return comes into play. When the reg sees the preset psi, it send the rest back to the tank. You can have a pump set to feed 3000 hp and it won't over run the reg, as long as the return can handle the volume.

nice improvements. a few more times at the track to work stuff out and who knows what times you'll end up with.

Haha, basically. How low did you get the 1/8 mi times, even with the carb trouble ? The M/T didn't break loose ?

It takes more than HP to get seriously low ETs.

What sort of traction-aids are you running?

6cyl springs, 90/10's,roller perches. Landrum springs out back with adjustable shocks and home made caltracs. Up until I moved back out here, my traction was perfect. Car didn't squat, it pivoted on the back tires, front tires barely lifted. And it came out of the hole square everytime. I only used 26's at the time. Adding this made it worse.

Try some BETTER adj. shocks. I had the cheap summit ones at first. Never could get it to hook. Bought some of the adj. Ranchos for the rear and now it hooks pretty good. Was lifting both front wheels about 8 inches (actually have it on video to prove) Couldn't believe shocks could help that much but they do. AWESOME times!! Oh the 28 inch tires helped quite a bit also. What tires you runnin??
