In a Fox body chassis.....It is. Cream of the crop. Everytime I talk to someone that wishes they still had their Fox, the excuses that seem to pop up the most are "rawness" and "simplicity". The Fox Mustang was probably the last true "muscle car" built....but most certainly not the last Mustang built. I'd drive my Fox to the crusher in a heartbeat if it meant I was driving home in an '03-'04 Cobra.

X2. $27K is a lot of scratch to throw down on a car that's coming up on 10-years-old. One that is now outperformed by your run of the mill GT.

after you work on as many 03/04's as i have... you'll know they are nothing special and most of the owners are cocky "know it all" assholes.

True, but there are a lot of folks with $ that eat these things up. When we get one in like the example here, they do not last a week.

No one said you had to be smart to spend money............just watch Barrett Jackson, it just makes me say WOW.

On a side note, I would not mind having one myself

I'm going to call your bluff on that one, but if you're really being honest... Wow.

I'd follow you to the crusher before I'd follow you to the Ford lot.

Why wow? Everything about the '03-'04 Cobra is better than my Coupe...or any Fox body for that matter. Nicer looking, faster, greater power potential, handles better, stops better, rides nicer, more comfortable interior, limited production, exclusivity, higher resale value, etc, etc...and in the end...it still a Mustang and basically still a Fox body for those guys who just have to own one. Trade up from an $8,000 car, to a $25,000 car at no cost to you? What's so hard to fathom?

As the matter of fact...I'd a call WOW on the guys who are so die hard about their Foxes, and blinded by their nostalgia for them that they can't see the forest through the tree's because of it.

You do realize I'm not talking trade in here right. I'm talking strait up....with no additional money exchanged

I would never spend $27K on a USED pleasure vehicle that I could only drive 7-months of the year....I don't care how nice it is.

...but if I had the option between the two straight up.....I'd light my Fox on fire and watch it burn. Then put the flames out with dirt spun off the wheels from my new (to me) Cobra.

Oh, yeah man. Plus you can get a stock one for well under 20K and will be faster than 70% of the foxes out there. And it has A/C.

But i live in Texas and could drive it year-round (minus the 6 months a year I spend on a boat)

But to actually DESTROY a perfectly good Fox in trade for a Termi? If you'd really do that, you have no soul. Like that creepy dude at the beginning of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang that wants to melt the car down and sell it for scrap. Heartless.

the money you spend on a cobra can get you a stupid modded fox..27k i could make a 800hp fox with the best suspension out there and whoop any 03-04. i love cobras my buddy has a 600hp cobra and he says he wants a fox one day.

i couldn't make that choice because i would be stepping into a slower car with worse handling that is more expensive to maintain much harder to work on and less fun to drive.

I dont think the new edge cars are better looking than the fox nor are they more comfortable, but thats just me.

For $27k i'd throw the Maximum Motorsports book at my car and drop a Coyote in it and call it done.

I have to disagree. I own both and compared to the fox the sn95 feels like a luxo cruiser pig. When driving them back to back it feels like getting out of a go-cart(SVO) and getting into a caddy(SN95). There is a HUGE difference in how it rides, feels, interior sound, stereo quality, etc. We all have our own opinions though

I have an 89'Saleen and an 01' V-6 5 speed . I am 6'4" and there is way more leg room in the 01' than in the Saleen. For long trips the 01' is the more comfortable car, ergonomics wise. For me at least.
I will add the Saleen has the original FloFit seats and the 01' has leather seats out of a 01 GT

I was always more comfortable in my LX then my Cobra. I attribute it to the fact that even though they were the same chassis, the Cobra seats sat a lot higher and it felt weird. My 12' on the other hand has better seats then the LX or the Cobra, but without the "sitting on top of a bucket" feeling I had in the Cobra.
