on my to texas last week, i averaged 300 miles for roughly 12 gallons

on my way back i put air in the tires and gained almost 40 miles per tank

i also had about 275 pounds of junk int the trunk

thats the best mpg i've ever gotten

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

You wasted all that gas just to go to Texas.

However I can affirm similar results driving from California to Illinois I was avg around 320-340 miles to a tank. Gotta love cruise control!!

I resent all those remarks about the GREAT state of Texas

But ... on a more serious note

A steady cruise will usually yield a good mpg
even
A Stang that has been modded beyond typical bolt on stuff

Ya really need to fill it up
Record the mileage
Drive at least half of the tank away
Fill it up again
Record the mileage again
Get the ratio between gallons used and miles driven

Anything else is just a guess

I use the method Grady said to check my gas mileage every tank. If I suddenly drop a couple of miles per gallon, something is usually wrong and it's time to check the car out.

must be nice.

i average about 150 miles per 12 gallons, not 300 miles for 12 gallons

but i wonder what mine would get if i were on a flat highway going 70 mph at 2000 rpm the whole way.

i've got a V6 rear end, it sucks on twisty roads but great for interstate

Texas is the only U.S. State that everybody in the world knows.

We also have more guns than the entire country of France.

Go Texas!

BTW good job with the mileage!

The best I ever got in my '02 GT was about 360-380 off of one tank on a long road trip. Cobra used to get good mileage until I added the chip. I also did the math the other day and the truck is getting between 10-11 per-gallon.
