What size plug goes into the dip stick hole on the side of a Milodon oil pan? I tried 3/8" pipe plug but that is not it. The threads are strange looking like they are not full threads. The pan fits a 351W for a late model Fox body.
You sure it is a dipstick hole? Usually through the side of the pan is a level sensor and the dipstick either goes through the block or the timing cover. Either way I do not know what size thread it is.
Are you sure they're threads or are they knurling to hold a press in dipstick tube?
I've never seen the pan you're talking about close up, but some pictures would help out =). Or you could email the manufacturer?
Hope this helps.
*edit*
oops missed the above post, and wasn't paying attention. It's correct that the tube goes through either the block or the timing cover, in my experience. Again, pictures would help =).
Thanks for the input, but I'm sure it's a dip stick hole. I retapped it with a 3/8 pipe plug tap and put alot of pipe sealant on it and will hope for the best.
Are you talking about the hole that is barely visible on the right (back in the pic) side of the pan? I still don't think it is a dipstick hole. I have never seen a dipstick that threaded in, much less directly into the side of the pan. The 302 I put in my 68 was out of a Fox mustang and the stock pan had a level sensor in that hole.
Yes that is the pan and the boss on the other side that is just visable is it. Maybe you are correct I did not have a late model to go by but I had a late model pan out of an F250 which had a dip stick coming out the side of it so I assumed is was for a screw in dip stick. Thanks!
