I think my trans is starting to act up again...I got it rebuilt less than a year ago and luckily its still under warranty.
While I'm driving...the car like jumps very slightly. Its like im running over a small bump in the road...a little less drastic. It kinda feels like a misfire as well. I feel it mostly in OD, but I can definetally feel it in other gears...but I definitely only feel it from 15-2000rpm's on very light acceleration, like when I'm crusing at 40 it's almost constant. It kinda feels like it slips for a half a second and then re-engages, though the rpms don't go up or anything.
Does this sound like a tranny on its way out?
Thanks guys
Joe

I don't run in O/D unless I'm on the highway. With a big stall I can't climb any sort of hill at 40mph in O/D without it stalling like a mofo.

The only weird thing mine does is load up and surge going downhill coming to a stop light.

I think mine is doing the same thing. Either that, or my spark plugs are messed up.

Joe, do you think it could be a calibration issue (if you run Mercon)? It seems to me that is kind of what the MV fluid retrofit deals with.................

Good luck bud.

Oh, if the trans has a warranty and it's in effect, I'd get back to the shop sooner than later.

Is it bad if I have no clue what that means?

Again, mine does the exact same thing! Was kind of aggravating at first, but now I'm totally used to it.

Not at all. The PCM and trans work together closely on the wonderful E-AOD. There can be calibration issues with Mercon, which is why there was a TSB back in about '97 recommending MV (Mercon V) for AODE's.

Because you're the one who knows the exact symptoms, I'd search in TCCoA's forums so you can pick up the fine details yourself (that I, or we, might miss or not know about).

A good first search would be something like "transmission shudder" or "converter shudder" and see if any of it sounds like what you are getting, Joe.

I'd add that a LOT of folks swear by Lubeguard (a 10 dollar additive). Jerry even mentions it in his articles. Honestly, I might try the Lubeguard first to see what it does, as that might be a clue (if it helps, it could be a fluid issue. If it doesnt, it might be something else). And remember to keep warranty timing in mind if it still applies (let it be someone else's problem).

Good luck bud.

Good point. I have a redline additive in my fluid as well. I'm also planning to swap my tranny over to Amsoil this spring. Tranny fluid is like blood in our body. If it isn't right, it can give us the shutters too.
