Primary resistance is 0.55 Ohms

Secondary resistance is 5.5K ohms

The $90 was only for one. They can be had new for a little less.

Ok thanks. So if the first or primary resistances are low, replace the ones they are low on?

I check with Autozone today and they sell the Wells brand for 37.99 a COP... But they didnt have the tab to bolt them into place... I kinda figure that is importiant.

I just wish Accel would actually start selling theirs, id buy a full set and be done with it.

Another question.

With the car running, is it safe to pull the connectors on a single coil pack 1 at a time and see if the idle changes (as in, when you pull the dead or missing coil it changes the idle the least or not at all)...? Or is that a bad idea and rough on the engine?

If that is ok, then I will clean them, see if that helps... if not, ill do the above method, find the bad one and replace the boot and coil wire to see if that fixes it. If not, at that point I will need a whole new COP... lol. They are just too expensive... for a set of Motorcrafts I could buy gears, have them installed, and my speedo fixed...

I do that all the time....

You can find them cheaper on ebay or give Randy Stinchcomb a call.

What type of plugs did you install?

Dielectric grease is mandatory. It helps lower the resistance between the contact points. A high resistance connection will look like it has a white burn mark over it.

Autolite plugs went in, gapped at .054.

Hopefully ill be able to do it shortly, had something come up that has prevented me from doing it earlier. I got plenty of dialetric grease now though.

i have the same problem too, i've changed the plugs, washed the boots and used dielectric grease but the car still jerks and bucks on deceleration.

i've tested the coils and the resistance for all were over .55ohms, i think .68 - .72 or something like that, so i'm wondering if it's even possible for all of them to go out

0.55 ohms is actually tough for an average meter to measure acurately. So it's not uncommon to get 0.6

The secondary is the one that will be better for the average to measure.

I've had coils measure near perfect and still miss when installed.

I cleaned them today, pulled the boots apart... sprayed them out along with the coils themselves with electrical cleaner. Some of them were pretty gross and had that weird rust color buildup on them.

Only one boot was cracked, and it was at the bottom of the boot, split in several places. I dont know if thats enough to make it arch around or not.

However, on the passenger side the next to last COP in the rear had a good bit of moisture buildup... and it was the only one... Intake manifold? The very last one may have had a little bit, but it was the one with the cracked boot.

It seems to run a little better now, didnt really get a chance to take it on the road but it feels stronger somewhat.
