Missing under load, and at high RPM?

My '96 GT started missing when I put it under a load about 2 weeks ago... My first though was, its time for some plugs, but I put new NGK's in it yesterday and It didn't stop. I ran some Sea-Foam through the intake and that didn't help either, my fuel filter is on order from advanced (why they didn't have it I dont know, lol).

My question is could a plug wire cause a miss like this? I would think it would be constant? that or either a coil is going bad...

What do yall think? could a fuel filter or dirty K&N also cause it? Im letting my K&N dry as I type this and the filter should be here soon...

could be plug wires or one of the coils. If you have the original wires I would get some new ones and go from there. At work I could test them to tell you if it's the coil or wire but there is really not much you can do without the proper equipment to isolate the cylinder or to tell if it's the wires or coil pack.

Thanks for the reply's guys... There not the original wires, I replaced them about 25,000 miles ago when the car belonged to a buddy of mine, the killed the original wires trying to get them off the plugs...

I'll try the filter and wires...

ohh well I guess that makes me a liar then :rolleyes: Do you realize I see a lot more modulars than you do? The stuff I post on here is based on 10 years of working on these cars for a living, not just one car. Go read some of the threads in this forum you will see that many many people have had ignition problems.

I would say for every misfire thats caused by a fuel system concern there is one hundred that was caused by ignition concerns. It's that much more common.

sure his problem might be fuel system related, and without proper tests there is no way to be sure, so I am just telling him the most common cause for his problem. In the entire time I have been working as a ford tech I have replaced maybe 10 or so fuel pumps for a failure like this.. I probally have done several hundred with the ignition system causing a concern like this.
