My car keeps getting an intermit miss. It does happen every time but every now and then I will crank it up and it misses and doesnt quit that day. Then the next day it wont do it. I have put a new distributor in it and new plugs, have tested the coil and it tested out ok. What should I throw at it?

Was the coil tested over and over until it had a test done when it was hot?

Nope no codes and I put a set of wires on it about a year ago but they came from autozone should I try a set of ford racing or something like that?

What kind of distributor did you put in?? What kind of coil are you running? Any aftermarket ignition, or high performance ignition parts require upgraded wires.

Did you have the miss before you put the dizzy and plugs in, or after. Trying cleaning the mass air meter if you haven't already and maybe a new fuel filter.

If it really just comes and goes, if you have a spare EEC, swap it in. If you don't, do NOT go buy one. It's a guess and not worth spending money on.

Otherwise, get it to miss and run a cylinder balance test. This will tell you which cylinders are missing. Also make sure your EGR is not sticking open.

check all your plug wires to make sure none of them are discolored at all anywhere, might possibly be arcing on something. Think of when it started and what was done to the car before and after that??

Yeah it did it before I put the plugs and dizzy in. It has did it off and on for awhile. I put a fuel filter on it probably a year and half or 2 years ago. The egr is deleted so that aint it. I dont have a spare ecu. How do you run a cylinder balance test?
